Who closes the only beachfront restaurant's kitchen at 9PM on a Friday night in Summer!

They wouldn't even serve us cake, which comes out of a display and requires no chef preparation!

Makes no sense to me!

Bit of confusion with the waitress at the start when she was taking orders (basically she walked away from us) and it was really a struggle to get her to understand our order. Great quality and quantity in the meals that were delivered. But a word of warning it appears all meals come with vegetables, so ifyou want chips and salad then that is an additional $2-50 on your bill for each one (what the?)

Huge servings, tasty food and good service. Tables too squashed and the restaurant is rather noisy due to bare floors. Hard to access toilets are downstairs which makes it difficult with little kids. The place can look a little grubby at times but the cheerful service and size of servings compensates for this. The take away pastas and pizzas are amazingly good value at $7.90 for a large. I am a regular customer and always enjoy my meal, eat in or take away.

I love the ambience, we can see the beach from the window. Pasta was really good. My favourite dish is garlic prawns served with rice. Huge fresh tasting prawns. The portions for all their dishes are huge, so we always order the entree size that cost $14.50. Another favourite order is the fried calamaris.

Approximate cost: $23.50

having gone there for my son's birthday,i found mostly good service a little slow, the only comment would be tables to close to each other and a major thing only one toilet for men women and the disabled,it was clean but not exactly what you would expect from a resturant.

Approximate cost: $10

Sofia in Frankston is really nice. You always know you're going to be full after eating there and the price is really affordable. Great for family lunches after a trip to the beach or on the way to Mornington... And during summer, these massive gelato ice creams are the best! Really enjoy it everytime.

I love Sofias. But not Sofias Frankston.

After going three times (as generally I love Sofias in other locations), and ordering takeaway a number of times, I have to say that I have never been so disappointed with the food. I was embarrassed when I invited guests to eat with me there, as the food, while generous in size, was very bland.

I did not feel that staff that we dealt with were very gracious or accommodating.

It's in a beautiful location, right on the Frankston Pier. Maybe this is the one reason they stay in business. Notwithstanding, I notice that other reviewers have had more positive experiences than me, so perhaps my expectations are just too high.

I've given it a low value rating because even though you pay peanuts for the huge servings, it's awful. The pizzas are dripping with oil and tasteless, meat is bland, veggies bland.

After Reading some of the reviews below - I GOT TO SAY - Lets Keep it Real...

Sofias is an 'Easy' kinda of Place, with Real service, well cooked food at great prices.
I can honestly say, you cannot get what Sofias offers anywhere else - Good Food at a Great Price & the Sea View - wonderful... and if your there one night & you find yourself asking 'is the staff looking after me as well as i would like' just look around at the other 300 guests they need to service too - shit, i would hate to be in there shoes...
So please people, lets all take a deep breath & just ENJOY the experiance - book a table with friends, share some food & drink some wine while looking at the Sea - Enjoy Life.

Plus i'm told Sofias Frankston is been run by a new manager now, and YES what a massive improvement. The food was Fresh, Tasty and those always Massive portions... which make for great left lunch the next day... its GREAT VALUE.
Also may i suggest, on a nice winter night sitting in the heated decking tent; its so romatic like an Arabian Night, with a great waiter 'Lenko' looking after us, it was wonderful... well worth the experiance. All in all a great new experiance in Frankston... they are really lifting their game.
so forget all the old stories & try them out again - for a casual night out with friends, partner or family, its well worth it.

Great food, with HUGE portions. Entree pasta was big enough for a main, very decent price for the meal. Fast and speedy service. You have the option of eating inside or outside which can be nice in the sun but the ugly exterior plastic marquee prevents you from overlooking the beach which would of made it and even better meal.
Only negative would be that theres so much food left over from such big serves you have to take it home in a doggy bag.
Seafood Marinara -- was beautiful
Garlic bread -- very bland
