I often use this supermarket as it's near my work. Parking is excellent - big spaces right across the road. Hit the pedestrian light button really fast and it changes straight away.

You have to pay for trolleys, which I don't agree with, so I just get what I can fit in a basket. They have some unusual groceries you can't find other places like yummy sweet and sour sauce, and a particular range of frozen foods not to be found in the "other" two.
Staff at the checkouts are a bit slow sometimes but I can't fault the staff at the deli, they always give me more baked potatoes than I asked or pay for. So there is a hot food counter where you can get chickens and ham hocks and baked vegetables as well as pies/pasties etc.
Their bread and rolls are wonderful, but the fruit and veg is often a little more expensive than other places.
Things like cat food are higher than others too. But I found their meat section to be fine - nice chicken or steak and very reasonable on trays. Always some marked down mince to pick up as well.
There is a Nat. Aust. Bank machine in the wall outside for quick cash too and a Post Office across the road, so they are quite convenient.
Over all, an individual sort of place. Looks like it could do with a little renovation though - floors are uneven in some places. They have some stuff you won't find elsewhere, but I don't think you could do a huge family shopping trip here. But it's not a bad place by any means.
The smoke and Tattslotto kiosk is separate too so no waiting for your checkout attendant to walk all the way there and back like some others. And they've just got a coffee machine. Wow. So take a look, you might be surprised and at least it's a change from the "formula" of the others.

Firstly the good: for a non-major chain supermarket Sims does stock a very extensive range of products and so would meet the needs of someone wanting to do a grocery shop there.
Now the bad: the prices are much more expensive than other supermarkets, the layout is confusing and the store seems messy and disorganised, and the staff look like they'd rather be anywhere else (and who could blame them?).
I support local businesses so have been perhaps a touch generous with my rating, however I would never do a full supermarket shop at Sims.

THis is a funny little supermarket - it has a great range of mediteranian products and a good deli. I"m not a fan of their meat - although I must say it has improved over the years. Their stock can be interesting - sometimes I go there for something quite basic and I can't find it yet at the same time, I know they carry some lines that I can't get in the big 2 supermarkets and I go to Sims to stock up. Parking is easy here - it's a pretty good local supermarket.

I regularly shop at Sims Supermarket in Footscray and they regularly have good specials in their catalogues and some specials in store that are not published. Would recommend visiting this store as it will surprise you with the range on offer and the specials in store every week.
