If you're not from Hobart, the Salamanca Market is a MUST see. We have a wide arrange of different stalls that are there permanently, with some that are casual. They have changed in the last few years so it is always worth another visit!!

It just keeps getting bigger!
The last time I was here it was just in the square. Now it goes all the way up a road!
Still plenty to see and do and there's all these little wonderful eateries interspersed between the equally wonderful stalls.
Well worth the visit and a huge tourist drawcard if you go to Hobart

Love going to Salamanca markets. Situated beside the water front and around the historic buildings. Its a great place to go for a walk around or to buy some food, gifts and heaps more. Will always come back and visit

Just visiting the area, the markets were a great way to see some local producers and what the area has to offer. The markets provided a variety of stalls to look through

I'm a regular visitor to Hobart from Qld-i love attending the Salamanca Mkts! i don't mind the crowds and just take my time perusing. great place to buy gifts for family and friends at home, as they are so unique. the flower stalls are very popular-quality here.another favourite of mine is the lavender gift stall. great day out.

Your review of Salamanca Market is really quite helpful. We are planning a Tassie holiday early next year and are looking for places to visit. Thanks heaps.

Salamanca Market is a Saturday morning tradition in Hobart. It's full of local produce, whether it's farm fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh cut flowers, handmade fudge, locally made kids clothing or huon pine wooden items.
It's not just for tourists. We often go to Salamanca to get breakfast - the mini pancakes are part of our Saturday morning breakfast traditions, as are the wraps from Gypsy Rolls.
There's something for everyone at Salamanca Market.

This market was alright, I went and had a look around and it didn't really grab me.
The biggest put off is the lack of parking and we spent a good 40 minutes driving around trying to find somewhere, argh!
The stalls are alright, nothing out of the ordinary cheap and lovely that stood out.
Lots of the stalls are covered so it's good to still be able to go if it's wet.
Worth a look but I probably wont go back again, feel like I've seen it once and that's enough.

Love the Salamanca Markets - I take my time to seek out the real stall holders from the everyday stuff.

You can meet some wonderful people, just strolling around and chatting.

This is not a "bargain bin" market (although there are your usual "made in china or wherever" resellers). The trick is to walk past them quickly, until you find the gems :)

I like to go when it is as quiet as possible and just take my time. I enjoy the atmosphere, the buskers, the location, the cobblestones and the people.

Food stalls are the same thing - seek out the treasures and you are in for a treat! Be tempted by the samples and buy a couple of small things for your kids as souvenirs.

Purchases I have made at the Salamanca Markets are some of my most treasured items in life.

There are some wonderful artisans producing exquisite items.

Love to all the real people - you know who you are!

I've bought some "precious" things here as you describe. Just the odd one or two - special memories of a lovely day wandering there. It's a great place and I enjoyed it very much.

A big market that is very touristy, lots of people were there when I went. I found the prices expensive and you could find similar produce elsewhere cheaper. Was a good way to spend a morning wandering around.

i have been to the salamanca market 2 times while staying in Hobart and didnt like it both times. I had heard so many people saying how good it was but i found it quite boring and over crowded. A lot of the stalls were local produce, crafts and multi-cultural clothing and jewellery which was all over priced. I did enjoy going into the little alleyways which you could find a few people selling their homemade items really cheap. We brought a bubble rope from a man in one of the alleyways for $6 and my daughter spent hours playing with it. I loved that he let the kids play with some he had set up. I dont think i would go back to salamanca market again
