The dim sum comes out hot unlike a lot of places and there is a wide variety on offer and they will make a good selection of things for order.

The silky fish soup and seafood san choi bau were excellent. Best Mongolian beef I have had in years. Our new favourite Chinese restaurant!

Sunday Yum Cha is great. Have eaten here many times at Sunday lunch. Food is always good and tasty. Bar drinks are overpriced. But the biggest downfall is, the bathrooms and restaurant need a good clean as very dusty and dirty. Probably wont be coming here again

It's a very nice restaurant for a special occasions (birthdays :) because it's a bit expensive. Yum cha is nice, good variety offered. Dinner is very nice, we haven't found anything not nice with our selections so Far. Service is very good!

Expensive.. But really nice. I had the beggars chicken which was i think $60.00, yes $60! but was delicious, cooked perfectly. The wait staff were great, happy to speak over the menu with you. Entree's start at about $7

Very nice Chinese food, but also very expensive. Three of us attended for lunch once, and it cost $70... I've had similar yum cha for about $15 per person.

This is great! The prices are out of control though... My extended family are mad for Asian food and they always drag me to cheap places around Melbourne. When it was my turn i bought them all here!!! As they began to open the menu and complain about the prices I gave them the word ii was my treat. Im not ever going to say that again...we ate everything and it was all fantastic. These guys know how to cook perfect food and look after you all night. It cost me near on $2000 for a table of 12. $166pp...!!! The thing is we all loved it and now they know Im not a tight a**!! Back to cheap eats for another year for them!

Nestled in the heartland of Doncaster is a restaurant that looks like it could be a contender to the always chock full of people at lunchtime yum cha restaurant, Taipan.

The place has plenty of room, lots of parking spaces and easy access because it is along Doncaster road and not far from the Eastern freeway.

Unfortunately the good news stops there!

We were there for yum cha and whilst there is a good range of dishes, the quality vs price equation is mismatched. Three people and about eight dim sum baskets later we were hit with a bill of almost $90!! The quality of the Har Gau was good but not exciting. The other dim sum such as the
Prawn dumpling with ginger and spring onion we found had too much salt resulting in drinking copious amounts of tea. The Kai Lan vegetables were okay, although some of the stalks were a bit chewy. We can understand why this place was not very full at these prices and average to good food quality it will need to lift its game to remain a place to recommend for yum cha.
