Feels strange reviewing a zoo but we take our 2 year old there often and I wanted to let people know about the Friends of the Zoo card. We found out about it from a friend just before we went to Melbourne for a week and it turned out to be a great bargain. For $65 (per adult) we get unlimited visits to Perth Zoo, Melbourne zoo and about 6 others around the country (including Werribee safari) for a year. Works out so much cheaper than individual visits and they send you a brochure with news about the animals/ zoo projects and puzzle/ posters for the kids regularly. Kids under 4 are free as well, so if you have toddlers who like animals I think it's a good investment.

Approximate cost: $65

I love Zoos and always visit the local Zoo when I am on holiday. Our Zoo is a small Zoo but I like that the animals are logically ordered so all the African animals are together, all the Asian animals are together etc. It's also great to see that the newer enclosures are built for the animals not just the people. Great too see that the animals have somewhere to hide when they've had enough of the people and they have room to play.

I always really enjoy going to the zoo I like to get there in the am as thats when the talks start on the various animals

So i would recommend you call up to make sure what time the animals you like start and sometimes the enclosures are closed for renovations i ask about that to for my favourite animals

The African Savanah is great to walk through very natural and snakes and crocodile section also great

You can also get a years pass if you like the zoo a lot

Its also a good idea if you can take a camera or video camera you can get heaps of good shots of animals for yourself and others

With all the Snake bites lately a good idea is to have the SNAKEBUSTER LIST HANDY
It is a list of all the Snake catchers in the area that will come out and catch a Snake here are some of them
Innaloo Glenn Ross 0421373080
Wanneroo Gary Davis 0412914537 Linda 0412955283
Padbury Bryan 0429029730
Heathridge Graeme 0416213016
Mundaring Brian Bush 9295 3007
Albany Martin 98454040
These are just some of the names and areas from the list you can get the full list by just typing in snakebusters list

Have been to many zoos, but I love Perth the best. It is well laid out so kids can see all the animals, the staff are great and quite chatty about their animals, and the prices are not bad. For a family day out, they are hard to beat for enjoyability and also value for money. Many "family day out" places are getting too expensive for families and the zoo remains one of the best value for money places. Food not great though...take a picnic!

This is a great day out. The gardens and surrounds are beautiful and with the lovely WA weather there are many great days to enjoy this zoo. Take a picnic and enjoy.

One of the best zoos in Australia and very cheaply priced compared to the others over East. Large areas with lots of places to relax and eat, and a great selection of animals too. Always a fun family day out.

I really like Perth zoo. It is definitely one of the best in Australia. There are lots of animals to see (the sun bears are so cute) and there also lots of lunch options too if you stay all day. They also do cheap outdoor concerts in the summer which are fun and includes zoo entry!!
