I’ve been going to the Parlour salon for over 10 years now and Geoff is fabulous! He does a great cut and colour and my hair always feels and looks amazing after.

Three friends of mine with very different hair types all had lovely haircuts that I always commented on. Jeff at The Parlour was the common factor. Now I get a cut and colour with Jeff every few months and wouldn’t go anywhere else. I often have people asking me where I get my hair done, particularly the colour. It’s a friendly and relaxed salon. I highly recommend Jeff. I’ve never had a disappointing result.

I work in the area and have on occasion had a small braid put in the front of my hair by some salons on Carlisle street. Im not very talented in this area so tend to leave it to the experts.
I decided today to go to Parlour on chapel as I like the look from the outside and thought if i liked it i may start going there for cut and colour.
I went in and asked if I could get a braid in my hair at 5pm. Was told yes and could they get my details. As he was taking my details down I asked how much would it be. He said 'oh not much" but asked I wait until he finished taking my details. He then said hhhmmm maybe 20-30 dollars. I explained to him that I had it done a few times before in the area and its generally 10-15. He said ok 20 to which I replied how about 15? (in a friendly manner and with a smile) I asked the question based on the fact that he didn't have a set price to begin with and on what I had paid previously.

He then continued to tell me that this was not a market and that maybe I should go back to the other salon. His manor was so rude [redacted offensive language] to be honest. the way he looked at me and made me feel was really unkind. Not the type of person id like treating my hair.

Just plain rude if you ask me. I wont be going there [redacted]

Oh and BTW [redacted - mentions alternative business by name] will be braiding my hair for $15 dollars, their original quote :-)

The best cuts ever and lovely people. I couldn't go anywhere else. I've tried plenty of others over the years but this place is seriously good.

A great experience, blood stained hands on the walls, a tarantula on the wall and a view of passing traffic. You cannot get bored here, the conversation is great, a glass of wine on arrival on a Friday night and a great cut and style. Very good, definitely in tune with what I want.

Geoff and the crew at Parlour are super friendly, always good for a laugh, and most importantly - know their stuff! Whether you are wanting a great cut, colour or something a little bit different, they are honest and reliable in being able to accomplish what you are after, or tell you if it can't be done (if you have ever been to a hairdresser who tells you that they can do something - and it's not until it's too late that you realise they can't - you will appreciate this fact).
If you are after a "do" then Maxine is your girl, take in a reference picture and she can do amazing things.
The whole atmosphere really does make for an enjoyable experience with great hair being the outcome!

I've been going to the Parlour for 7 years and I recommend them to everyone I know, it's awesome. Even while you sit waiting for the dye in your hair, it never gets boring! They are the only hairdressers that I trust to cut my hair (and my son's too for that matter!). I live ages away from St Kilda, but I make the trip in all the same because it is so worth it! Geoff did my hair for my wedding, and my 5 bridesmaids too! Everyone thought he was excellent, and did an outstanding job.
