Whenever I go here the staff are rude and don't cater for any dietary requirements, they don't even ask the kitchen staff it's just a plain no you can't have that or no we won't do that. Their food is really expensive and the pancakes are so average and doughy.

My partner & I ate here for the first time, being new to Ballarat. The decor & lighting is dark & dingy with no atmosphere. The toilets are up to full fights of stairs, so no good for my partner who has mobility issues. They don't tell you that upon entry. The waitress suggested we could go across the street to another eatery & use their toilets. How bizarre. My partner had the Mexican pancake that had way to much shredded lettuce. I had the Tiramisu pancake with cream & mascarpone on a pancake with chocolate bits. Both were over priced for what they were... nothing special. Our experience was spoilt by a loud father who constantly felt the need to control & manipulate his 3 children's every move. It really spoilt our nice, quiet meal. We'll try a eatery next time that has a rest room for disabled people.

The food is delicious and well priced. The service was prompt but not what I would call friendly or welcoming. Our dinner was marred by a group of noisy teenagers at the next table one of which decided to sing every 5 minutes. We would of been better seated somewhere else. Very child friendly place for dinner.

I love this place. I just love pancakes with yummy wipped butter. Only problem is the stairs are a nightmare to go up and down with young child or a pram. I wish they had some sort of lift. Not because i am lazy i have seen parents have a hard time getting up the stairs with prams and children. I have even seen people turned away with a wheelchair because all the lower floor is full and they wont get up the stairs.
Do highly recommend them due to the pancakes and wipped butter.

We've been here a few times and have enjoyed our meals each time. The service has been prompt and the Staff have been friendly and efficient. The place has a homely feel to it. I love the Fireplace. They make the BEST cottage fries. They are a bit pricey but, if you know what to pick, you get value for money.

This place is very interesting, and perhaps more diverse than you'd think. They serve savory pancakes as well as sweet and it's situated in a very charming old building. Quite indulgent to the senses!

Since coming from Melb we are use to the great & quick service even when busy, in all the Pancake Parlours that we have tried.
Since our 3 years living in Ballarat we have been to the Pancake Kitchen & on one occasion (a quiet day) we waited 50mins for our meals. On the other occasion there was only ONE table of about four people other than the two of us & we waited 1hour & 10mins for our meal.
No apology or excuse from the staff as to why this had happended : (
Absolutely shocking .... And we have not & will never go there again.
Would rather travel to Melb to get pancakes there !!!!!!

Delicious fresh pancakes, a genourous serving while sitting in front of an open fire place in old world charm. Prices are very reasonable, staff are friendly.

Went there early in the morning and there was only 2 people there so why did we have to wait 30mins for our meal and when we got the meal it was very disspointing the pancakes tasted like they had not been cooked and the hash browns were anything but good

I have been here for breakfast and dinner. Really enjoy the food, but the service at our recent dinner left a bit to be desired. Given the lack of customers on the evening we attended it was somewhat annoying waiting for someone to come and offer us more drinks and the wait between dinner and desert was so long we helped ourselves to the menus on another table so we would be ready to order when they finally did come back and see how we were. This Pancake Kitchen does not really come up to the standard of it's Melbourne Pancake Parlour counterparts but if you like pancakes, then it's for sure the place to go. One thing I would say is that they serve their hot fudge sundaes with a lot more fudge than Melbourne and the nuts come seperate too which was pretty cool.

Approximate cost: $12 - $18
