Enjoyed the experience ‘The Quiet Girl. BUT dismal effort from baristas on duty yesterday Sunday 25 September. He forgot our coffee order busy chatting (missed train). When reminded, despite apologies, was weak as dishwater, virtually tasteless, forgot minor details such as 2 shots in one and sugar missing from both, the other request was for one to be extra hot, which it was not. He got noting right! Almost $10 for abysmal service, not even up to McDonalds standard!

A beautiful cinema with a great choice of mainstream, arthouse and foreign
films. The yearly membership benefits are fantastic, with a free ticket
upon buying/renewing a membership, and an additional one for your birthday.
Not to mention the discounted ticket prices for you and a guest year-round.

The only downfall for this cinema is its location for people who are
driving in. My friend and I left Palace Westgarth to find fines for $89 on
our windshields, and on the windshields of at least 5 other cars parked in
the same street because the parking restrictions weren't clear. When I
wanted to go back recently, I realised there is hardly anywhere else to
park that lets you stay for more than 2 hours - which doesn't give you much
time to watch a movie! However, this is something Darebin council needs to
fix and is not a reflection of the cinema itself.

A cute little cinema, it's nice to get away from the big multiplexes and feel like a human being again :-) seeing a movie here is more of a 'cinema experience' rather than a 'movie experience' due to the old world charm of the place.
I concur with another reviewer who remarked on the parking issues in Westgarth, beware! Parking officers are definitely afoot in this neck of the woods, if you are able catch PT instead, much less of a headache :-)

Lovely cinema, well kept and maintained. Beautifully decorated old theatre and has a nice feeling to it'

Staff are friendly and helpful too.

Every so often we go here to watch a movie (its a nice change of scenery from the usual cinemas)

its in a good location with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants to visit before or after the movie

Parking can be a bother in the area - thats my only complaint!

I love going to this Cinema, you can grab a coffee in one of the nice cafe's in Northcote, or one of the nice bars.
I recommend this cinema over any Hoyts or Greater Union because of the choice of movies and the architecture is rather awesome. Check it out, I doubt if you will be disappointed with the building, just jump on the 86!

Approximate cost: $12

This cinema beats out the other more popular screens purely due to the wonderful building it's situated in, it feels like it's been their for years and it's actually really well-kept but could do with a little bit of a renovation.

They offer a few less films than Hoyts and Village but do the 4-5 films they do show at anyone time, there is usually a few popular movies alongside a couple indies. A really unique candy bar that can be pricey and a little cafe area for waiting on your next film.

Cinema rooms are quite large and feature great ceilings and wall decorations, it actually feels like a oldtime theatre.

Recommend to fans of architecture with an oldtimey feel. You won't find as many rowdy teenagers at this cinema! Average prices.

I love visitng this theatre for the ambience. Recent rennovations have seen the addition of a glam 1920's style bar, but thankfully the divine choc-tops remain. On the popular Westgarth strip, there are numerous choices for a pre-movie meal or post-movie drinks.

These cinemas always have the latest big movies and also the good independant movies. The ticket prices are fair and the snack bar is good, too. You definately get the feeling you are in an independant cinema. Unfortunately the seats are really uncomforatable so I wouldn't go back - especially for a long movie.

Opened in 1921, the Westgarth Theatre is an excellent example of art deco architecture. They have a wide range of films available and I think it's really fantastic to be able to go and experience the movie in such historic surrounds. It's nice to be able to get good coffee and take it in too.

Approximate cost: $Same as normal movies
