In a moment of absolute desperation I was referred to Beth as she was recommended by my Midwife. I had already seen multiple GP's, lactation consultants & a paediatrician as my baby cried/screamed for hours every day! Everyone told me his behaviour was normal & that I was just a nervous first time mum.

As soon as Beth saw my son she suspected silent reflux & recommended different sleeping solutions & treatment options. My baby is now happy & content & I have my sanity back! I'm forever grateful for Beth. She was extremely professional & empathetic.

I also appreciated that Beth checked in on me multiple times after her visit! I would highly recommend Beth's service."

"With our families living overseas and little local support ; my husband and I called on Beth in our first fortnight home with our new baby. She taught us so many valuable skills as new parents in the comfort of our own home which we found invaluable. She was so approachable and reassuring with her advice which gave me so much confidence to carry on without her. At 3 months when we felt like we needed her again - we were given a plan tailored for us and she was in touch quickly to make sure we had adapted to the changes smoothly. I would recommend her services to any new family and would not hesitate to call on her again if we ever need. "

I had one othe Morhercraft for babies consultants come to my home for a 6hr consultation for my 12 week old who was napping and snacking constantly.
We spent most of the day chatting and twice settled my son to sleep. Allowing him to cry was suggested and being a FTM I too the advice and tried this. My little one just got more and more distressed every try and longer to settle so we did not continue which was fine with the consultant. She said it's because you always pick him up to comfort him when crying that he won't sleep.
When I enquired about the care plan she said that he was so far from normal that it would be too difficult to achieve but she would email it to me....There was no follow up from the consultant or care plan.
I felt more confused and anxious after the day.
What disappointed me the most about this service is that the issue with bubb catnapping and snacking was that he was not getting enough milk from breastfeeding and was constantly hungry, i would have expected the consultant would have identified this as an issue. Would not recommend this service.

I subsequently went elsewhere, where my doctor referred me and could not recommend them highly enough.
This is a fantastic place and identified and resolved the issues in just a few hours of me arriving at the facility and is a free service.

Kelly I am disappointed to receive your feedback about our Nurse's home consultation early August. I remember we spoke at length when you first rang and that it had been a tough journey for you during pregnancy and since Leo's birth. Keeping this in mind the nurse I assigned to you was an experienced and dedicated Child and Family Heath Nurse (Tresillian trained) and Midwife.

I have spoken to her at length again, she is quite distressed about some of the issues you outlined above as her recollection differs to yours. That being said your satisfaction as our customer is very important to us.

I am glad your residential stay at Tresillian the following week was so beneficial for you both.

Kelly you have indicated to WOMO that you didn't want to explore a resolution but I would be more than happy to further discuss/assist your concerns by phone?

Best regards

I recently had a Mothercraft nurse come to my home for 3 hours to assist me with my 12 week old baby. My main problem has been a catnapping baby during the day. The nurse was lovely and had a warm and approachable manner. She suggested that I leave the baby to cry for 1 minute and then spend 3 minutes settling her - repeating the process until the baby had drifted off to sleep. We spent most of the 3 hour session on this issue. What she suggested is essentially a form of controlled crying. After she left and on reflection, I didn't feel comfortable implementing this strategy - particularly given that my baby is still quite young. Everything that I could find online suggests that this form of "comfort settling" isn't really recommended for babies under 6 months.

If you are going to book a session through Mothercraft, I recommend that you find out on the phone beforehand what their general approach is to the issue that you have. If you don't feel comfortable with their approach, it's a waste of money having a session. Her advice actually left me feeling conflicted and anxious after the session, rather than reassured (especially once I started doing some research to see if this approach was generally recommended for young babies).

As for the post consultation follow-up, it was a very brief text message so don't expect a high level of engagement from the consultant after the session.

Thank you for your feedback Rebecca. We take any dissatisfaction from our customers very seriously.
I have read the debrief notes and also spoken at length with the nurse who visited you and 3 month old Bronte. I am sorry that you felt that the nurse's guidance and advice didn't meet with your expectations. Her understanding of the brief from you/me was to improve/lengthen Brontes's one cycle napping during the day which was resulting in an overtired/cranky baby.

She was aware that you were not comfortable allowing Bronte to cry or be distressed, which is understandable. I understand that you texted the nurse on her way home thanking her for her help and clarifying some advice? And the nurse was in contact with you again the next day, and you indicated that you were not ready to implement the sleep support as suggested. This is also understandable and your decision is respected.

Rebecca we wish you and Bronte (and your toddler) all the very best, and I would be more than happy to talk to you further if your wish.

Best regards

Thanks for your response Beth. As you said, the nurse was aware I wasn't keen on leaving my baby to cry - so I'm not quite sure why an approach that involved crying was the only solution offered. On reflection, I was a bit surprised that a Mothercraft nurse would recommend a form of controlled crying for a baby that is only 12 weeks old. I should have clarified with you on the phone before I booked the session your general approach to settling. If I'd known that settling in the form of controlled crying was going to be the focus, I wouldn't have proceeded as I don't feel comfortable doing this - especially with a young baby who isn't yet 3 months old.

I was recommended Mothercraft by my lactation consultant. As a bit of background, our little baby had 2 major operations before 4 months of age and each time he returned from the hospital his sleep was significantly affected. In addition, we could never get him to sleep for the night before about 10pm or later (and we always thought we had a night owl!) and we struggled to get him to sleep much during the day.

After speaking with Beth and a home visit by Ros, we were given some much needed advice and strategies and exactly a week later baby was going to sleep for the night at 7pm and completing at least 2 solid naps during the day. Baby seems much more settled during the day and as insignificant as it sounds, for the first time in over 4 months my hubby and I can have dinner and wind down together without an unsettled baby in the mix which has made evenings much more pleasant!

I can not recommend Beth and Ros and their team more highly enough.
Beth's quick response initially, dispatching Ros swiftly and follow up (and contact-ability) from both her and Ros.... Now just need baby to "sleep through the night" - when he is ready!

I recently used mothercraft for my son and had a very bad experience with a poorly trained consultant. I will not be using mothercraft again.

Hi Beth
We had a fabulous day with Jackie!!
She was so calm and reassuring and honestly fit right into our home immediately. Her advice and approach was totally what we needed and the way she calmly talked me through the day put both me and Amelia at ease.

From the day after she left my husband and I have cooked and sat down to dinner (by ourselves) every single night! It's been fantastic.

Thank you so much for your quick response, efficiency and ease of arrangement, and mostly for the fabulous Jackie. Highest recommendation!

I have been very happy with Kathy's advice. Although Max and I didn't have such a great day yesterday, we managed to have a slightly better day today. Kathy has given me the confidence to implement some gentle and gradual changes to Max's routine to help him become a better sleeper.

Leading up to the consultation, I was worried that the changes were going to be drastic and cause some chaos but I was pleasantly surprised! Never would I have ever imagined putting Max straight into his cot and walking out but the last 3 mornings after his 4am feed, I have been able to do this.

This is just a small step in which we have yet to accomplish but thanks to the confidence that Kathy has given me, I believe we are on the way to bigger and better things!

I just wanted to send you a quick note to say how amazing your nurse Jo was: completely professional, knowledgable, compassionate and attentive. She really put me at ease and most importantly her input has worked wonders- our nearly 6 month old baby who was waking hourly and not sleeping during the day is now sleeping 12-13 hours at night (up for 1 feed only), and goes down for 2-3 day sleeps with very little fuss. We, who were at our wits end, are now content. It is amazing the difference Jo has made to our lives by spending just 2 nights with us.

Our family referred to Beth for parenting advice and support when our children were babies and toddlers and good sleep routines became more challenging. They are school age now, and we are so very proud of them, but I couldn't recommend Beth and her nursing team more highly as they gave us such a wonderful start and caring support to our parenting. We refer Mothercraft for Babies to many of our friends with the utmost confidence, keep up the good work!
