They have such a huge variety of products to suit pretty much all geeks tastes, its really impressive. They have comics, posters, games, manga, movies, anime, art, collectibles... and the list goes on.

The only draw backs of the place are the prices, they can be a little expensive depending on what you're looking to buy. Also the customer service is a little hit-and-miss, especially if they are busy and honestly I wouldn't bother trying to call to speak to someone.

Otherwise, this place is great and still well worth a look if you're around the city.

EVERYTHING for the comic book, sci fi show or memorabilia fan - and I mean everything. If you're into superheroes - Batman, Superman, Green Lantern etc, whether Marvel or DC, this shop has everything you would ever want. There are books, comics, statuettes, calendars ... you name it.

They also cater for Sci fi fans - Doctor Who, Star Trek, Supernatural etc. And TV fans - Scooby Doo and other niche market followers.

Anything that anyone might collect or be a fan of, they've got.

There is also a whole wall of just novels - of all types of fantasy, adventure, the occult and science fiction.

You can spend ages just wandering around. I agree that the staff don't leave the counters much, you have to queue up just to ask a question. But when you do they are quite helpful. Wish I worked here.

I found this shop by accident a couple of years ago and it's been like a mine of treasure ever since. But if it's rare and hard to get then of course you have to pay for it. Some of the TV show novels are same as book shop price - around $15. But some other stuff is very expensive. Depends how bad you want it.

I love getting the calendars and then have envious people ask me where I got them.

It's not obvious from the street. Go along Elizabeth St from Flinders St and there's the entrance with a few glass cases of stuff to entice you in. The shop is down stairs in a basement.
They have cool purple and black shopping bags and you get a buzz from carrying one home if other people recognise it.

For fans of all types and ages - save your pocket money citizens and go.

Approximate cost: $So many items - various prices but on the high end for scarcity.

Upon entering the store, I was really impressed with what the store had to offer. I did notice lots of Manga/Anime as well comics and other awesome nerd paraphernalia. Great selection of Comic Books. Further on back there were some display cases with some cool Statues, busts, and action figures. The Staff was really helpful.

Approximate cost: $1-1000

I was dragged into this store by a mate who is a massive comic book fan. Once I made it inside the door, I was more excited than he was as I saw an entire store of those childhood memories I had pretty much forgotten existed. All my old favourite shows and comics and toys they had - even the stuff I never thought I would see again. MASSIVE RANGE OF MEMORABILIA

If you are looking for a gift or a collector this store looks amazing - but the pricing is a bit steep though in my opinion (not exactly a guru on the stuff though)

Staff didn't leave their counters to offer assistance but admittedly they had a steady stream of customers to serve without leaving their posts.

I had the exact same experience! Rad place for reminiscing but it all comes with a considerable price tag.

This store is my nerdvana. Their range of scifi and fantasy books is excellent, as are their comics and collectables. The store layout isn't great and the staff can sometimes be helpful, and sometimes not, and the prices of their graphic novels and figurines and stuff can be on the wrong side of expensive (books are generally the same price as other booksellers though), but if you are after an unusual gift, or just want to do what I do a lot of the time and just go in and bask in the glory of all things geeky, then this is definitely the place for you.

Fantastic range of comics and pop culture merchandise. As well as a large range of anime and manga. Only downside is that things can be a bit expensive.

This is Melbourne's nerd superstore. Seriously, if you are an ANYTHING buff or an otaku of any persuasion, this store will have something you dig. The prices can be a bit steep on some items, although mostly on the rare imports, which is fair enough really. Comics, figurines, art books, novelties... Minotaur is awesome.

Great place to find manga and comics you might be after, they have a good range of collectibles as well. Their prices are fairly high though, and their online store is really difficult to navigate.

There's a huge variety of products here, but Minotaur is let down by a couple of factors - staff attitude and the lack of accuracy with their online stock levels.

I recently made the trip into the city to specifically pick up a certain trade that's listed as in stock on the website, only to find that the item isn't even in store. Upon asking the bloke behind the counter in the comics section where to find it, he just punched something into the computer and shrugged, muttering "Computer says it's in stock ..." and that as far as it went - no offer to go and have a look for it, no offer to get it in for me. Very disappointed at the lack of service, but still a fun store for us nerds to frolic through.

I found a product I wanted to pre-order from Minotaur's website. After ringing them, and being told that I could not make a pre-order from them over the internet or phone for pick-up orders, I went into the store to make the order. They wanted a deposit, then told me that the pre-order price on their website was not how much I would likely be paying, and that it probably would cost more. False advertising! Furthermore, they couldn't tell me how much more it would be or when it would be coming into stock, though they estimated that it would take a few weeks.

Almost 2 months passed, in which I had been calling periodically to find out whether they had any more idea of when the product was coming. During the times I could get through (about 33% of the time) without getting an answering machine, the person there told me they had no idea when it was coming and couldn't even give me a vague estimate. Meanwhile, at least 5 other stores I knew of had already gotten the same product in their store long ago. Eventually, I gave up, and asked them over the phone if I could get my deposit back because for all I knew, I could be waiting forever. They said yes, so I came into the store and asked for my deposit back.

I expected an apology when I POLITELY asked for my deposit back, instead I received anger from the man in charge. He angrily said I couldn't have my deposit back because they already got the product in the store. So I said good, in that case I'll buy it right now. He then found out that he actually didn't have the product in store, and then still insisted that I couldn't have my deposit back. So I told him that the person I talked to on the phone said I could get my deposit back. He demanded to know who I talked to, before yelling 'Fine!' and stormed off without another word. The other woman there was apologetic and nice on his behalf, but seeing as he seemed to be in charge, you would expect far better service, especially as they wasted almost 2 months of my time and money, only to end up empty handed. I pretty much wasted my entire deposit on paying for parking near the shop!

So overall? They can charge more than you expect, give you horrible and rude service, not know anything about your ordered product, and get their products in slower than other stores. I wouldn't advise you shop there, I know I won't ever again.

That's interesting because I've always found the customer service to be great.
