Very knowledgable staff who advise you of their recommendations and reviews as you order. The fish tacos were delicious, however were one of the only things on the menu without cheese which made it hard for one lactose intolerant guest. The wait time is often long so I would recommend getting there early in order to put your name on the list, no bookings makes it difficult to plan a night out here but if you are persistent you will get a table eventually.

OK similar to the previous review we waited for reaaaally long. Mamasita does not allow bookings unless you have a group of 8. Waiting times can vary from half an hour to over an hour. Staff is extremely rude and would not even ask whether you are happy to be seated at the bar or not. Food tastes good. Their corn is AMAZING. We also tried the pickled cactus salad which was interesting but bland. This place has a great selection of tequilas. I found that food was overpriced for what it was. Would no go back.

My experience at Mamasita started with a 40 minute wait, which was fine with me, as i knew it would be worth the wait. We were seated on stools facing the wall, which wasn't the best view, but we decided to sit there instead of waiting longer.

We started with the frozen Granitas, they were delish - lime and mint!! Then the corn came out. That was amazing, I really loved it - highlight of the meal.

Then we had some crab tostads, which were nice. The chevice with coconut milk was good too. I found the pork tacos to be little dry, but still nice. We also ordered a Quesedilla, i found it to be qquite bland and not too exciting.

I would defintaley go back for the corn and the yummy sweetcorn ice cream dessert!

Second best mexican in melbourne - first being Newmarket :)

Having been to mexico a few years ago, this is definatley the closest thing you in melbourne you are going to get to a really great restaurant in Oaxaca, Mexico. The lines can be long, however if you get there at a decent hour they will happily seat you at the bar and you can have a drink while a table becomes available. I find the tacos to be the tastiest on the menu and you MUST get the corn. A few places seem to be doing the mexican thing at the moment, however the qulaity of food and atmosphere at Mamasita's is still the best in town.

Approximate cost: $10

Wow, wow, wow! This is a very popular and consequently, very busy restaurant. The food is fantastic, I had the Tacos Del Polo (chicken) which tasted out of this world! The fish tacos were amazing too and the table habanero sauces will spice up anything you find too cool! I think the food is good value and the service is excellent.

Approximate cost: $10

AMAZINGGGG FOOD!!! The corn I recommend and the fish tacos! Best mexican I have ever had! Yes there is a wait but well worth it. If you have a group of people though you can book!

Be prepared to line up, especially for dinner. Food here is good, especially the tapas. Corn is a must try. Sangria was perfect. A little too dim for my liking but somehow the waiters always seem to spot you. Good service in a very busy restaurant.

Approximate cost: $30

Love this place and wish there were more Mexican places like this. While you might have to wait a while for a seat its well worth it. Its great for sharing plates with people and I give a A+ to the pork taco.

I love mexican food and this new restaurant in Melbourne didn't disappoint! I went there for lunch on a Monday with a friend and they were busy busy!
We shared a board of beef and pork tostaditas which were delicious little appetisers, then we each tried some soft tacos as main, there was a great variety to choose from - I had chicken and vegetarian. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Melbourne's CBD.
The only downside to this restaurant would probably be the access - might be difficult for someone trying to lug a pram and little ones.

Approximate cost: $18-$35
