Have stayed here twice and they are gradually putting in a lot of new improvements. It's a quiet park with friendly staff and good van sites. The cafe looks good (we didn't use it,) but it seems to have a nice atmosphere. Park is close to all the main National Park attractions or, if you just want to stick around the park, there are nice walks and a lovely salt water pool. Internet is flaky but you can get it by placing your wife on a table at the cafe and asking her to point your modem to the heavens. We like this park and have had two very enjoyable extended stays.

What a find this place was. Attractive well-kept grounds, lots of character and charm in the bar/restaurant area and Luke the proprietor was extremely friendly and helpful in every way. We had not pre-booked and happened to secure ourselves the last cabin available for the night. So glad we got in, the other two accommodation options on the road prior to Litchfield National Park were no comparison (we did pull in for a look at these but kept going in hope to find something better - like Lukes!) Luke gave us a map of Litchfield NP when we checked in and highlighted what was open and closed and what was worth seeing. What fantastic and unexpected service! We grabbed the keys for Cabin 4 which we found clean and comfortable and headed out to check out the park. We returned later for dinner, great menu at reasonable prices, beer and ice creams too. With a TV in the background, a postcard stand and lots of tourists about the setting was perfect. Not much on the dinner menu for a vegetarian, I ordered a ceaser salad with no meat and some garlic bread. Luke brought this out and felt very bad there was not much in my meal and offered us two complimentary beers to compensate on cost. We didn't expect this but it was most appreciated. Being vegetarian on the road can unfortunately be hard and bad value most of the time! The galah by the bar was happy for a scratch behind the head, we stayed a while and really enjoyed the surrounds. Unfortunately we did not sleep as well as we'd have liked, which is why I only gave 4 stars for quality. The old air con unit (which with the heat and humidity was necessary to keep on) was so loud above the bed it was hard to sleep. We did notice as we left the next day that most cabins seemed to have newer air con units than this, so perhaps we were just unlucky in cabin 4 - and perhaps I am a light sleeper and should have brought ear plugs! But everything else about our stay here was fantastic, this place was great we really enjoyed ourselves and it was great value.

Approximate cost: $105 for the night

The hospitality shown from all staff was unbelievable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. You signed in at the 'bar', picked your own spot to pull up at and camp and all that was left to do was relax. Beautiful pool with spa, shady camp sites, internet access, camp kitchen as well as cabins. Super cappuccinos in the morning and an excellent variety of food on the very well priced menu. All staff had a bundle of local information willing to share.

Approximate cost: $20 p/n unpowered site
