I started using this establishment over a year ago while living near the Kew Tram Depot, then have continued using it after moving further away in Richmond.

We get all our business shirts and drycleaning done by Amy, who runs the place. She is unfailingly polite and friendly, very efficient with drycleaning and mending. Our items are always ready when she says they will be. The charges are reasonable also. Amy appears to take pride in her business - we once had some dark marks on the inside of a french cuff and she was most apologetic and ensured that never happened again.

We get silk ties, formal dresses, work suits etc all done here and most likely won't go anywhere else.

I took a silk jacket, a winter coat & my house-mate's silk dress she needed for an interstate wedding to this place - NEVER AGAIN!!! Not only did they not have our items ready (a whole week after I brought them in) they were at their other location in Box Hill!! After driving all the way out there, we not only found my house-mate's beautiful silk dress ruined (faded in parts, stitching had come undone) and my silk coat had a blade of grass (WTF???) impregnated in it, but they tried to charge us twice the quoted price. When we argued about the price, the woman stole my house-mate's purse off the counter and refused to give it back until we threatened to call the police. All the while, the staff were speaking loudly in their native language - unbenownst to them, my housemate speaks a few words & could understand "*&%ing Australians". Nice.

We are awating the outcome of a formal compaint to VCAT, but in the meantime - DO NOT TAKE YOUR DRY-CLEANING HERE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!! You have been warned.

Approximate cost: $1000

I arrived from Perth 2.5 years ago & because Kew Wash House was closest to where I landed, I used it. The lady in attendance (an agent for dry cleaning) is always cheerful, helpful. She has repaired items for me (hems, moth holes) with her great sewing, & I've seen men pick up business shirts & ironing. The machines are in unfailingly good order. The premises are ALWAYS clean. People obviously respect this joint.

Last year I moved a couple of suburbs away & used THAT local wash house. After losing $$$ in the busted machines and one customer telling me, 'They're always broken' - I did give that place a few tries but now travel the extra distance just for Kew Wash House

There's about six or eight (haven't counted) $4 wash machines that take $1 or $2; two (I think) triple load machines ($8) and one double load machine ($6). I'm just going by memory on that bit. The $6 machine takes $1 COINS ONLY but the others take $2 and $1. While there isn't a change machine (understandably) there is a powder machine.

Approximate cost: $Varies according to load!
