Also great for looking for jobs, not just selling and buying things.

I agree I have sold a few things on Gumtree much easier than EBay and no fees plus advertised my garage sale on there and had a great response though not so crazy about the 2 guys that showed up at 6pm the night before the sale :( only thing I do get is people asking if its still available and when told yes I hear nothing back

I have to say its worked for me I have sold all sorts if items on Gumtree. The site is free which makes it even more worth while. Just be very careful if someone from overseas emails you to purchase and item from you it could be a scam. Read the reviews on Gumtree.

I have managed to get rid of a few things on Gumtree both free to give away or priced to sell. I also like the fact people can advertise a service on it. I thought you could buy absolutely anything on eBay but Gumtree tops it with any possible thing you could want to find. Really handy site and it's free to advertise where eBay charges to list even if it's a start of 99c. Give it a try as it can't hurt and won't cost a thing!

I have tried selling things on gumtree but found nothing sells for me and time wasters get in contact.
The last few things I tried to sell on gumtree which were all nealy new and in top condition I was getting people asking if they could have it for free.
I have found that with gumtree u need to move fast otherwise the item is gone.
Maybe gumtree just doesn't work for me and my items.
I know of other people who have had success with gumtree.

I haven't tried to sell things on Gumtree so I can't comment in that regard. I have, however, posted listings for "wanted" items and had very good success. As a bit of a compulsive sewer I was after fabric that I could use to make items to donate to worthy causes. I was surprised by the number of people who responded and overwhelmed by the fabric I received.

agreed...sometimes there are way too much time wasters or cheap people who wants to rip you off (as a seller). Back then when the ipad 2 just came out I got lucky and got one and played around for 1-2 hours. Then i decided that I want to switch to an android one as I already have an iphone and i want to have another product that uses another OS so I posted my ipad 2 for sale ! At that time there were no stocks at all ! all sold out! so I was thinking ok even thought its second hand I wont loss too much so I listed 50 dollars less than I bought ! (in fact I think I could sell it at higher price for those who didn't get it and wants it as there was no stock) but I got so many of people who wanted to buy and didn't show up ! or offer me 100 or 200 .......... -.- pretty stupid I have to say!

I have tried gumtree again on selling some really
Good kids items /toys to no avail, heaps of callers /emails but all time wasters and bargain hunters to the point where I was offering items for free and they still didn't want them, there was always a excuse I don't drive can you deliver
It's just a nightmare !! Never again

I love using gumtree, whether to look for items for cheaper or to look for other advertisements to find something personally of use. I bought an old nokia charger I couldn't find anywhere on gumtree and found the service great. Would definitely recommend.

I absolutely love gumtree! I have listed several things on there for sale, and purchased from there too. You do have to keep a pretty close eye on it though if you are after something particular, as some of the good things are taken pretty quickly. Most normal listings are free, but there are options to pay to have your listing at the top which is good for bigger items such as cars.

Pretty good site to buy from, but I never seem to have any luck selling on it. Things seem to move quickly but I have noticed sometimes things seem to be listed elsewhere as we'll and they are removed if they sell somewhere else. No cost which is great. Only complaint or suggestion would be to make more categories a sites hard to search for something specific if people have misspelled or not done a great item title.

I had a very good experience with this site. I posted the used walker of my twin girls (but still in good condition) and it only took four days, then it was sold. It is free posting stuffs for sale on this site and you can really find items in cheap prices. Give it a try!

Approximate cost: $free

I can never find what I want on gumtree but I thiink it has great potential. I need to give it more of a go I think.

lucy91 03 Nov 2012

Definitely give it a go if you've never tried before, best of all it's free!

You can find almost anything on gumtree, I managed to buy a number of gift cards with around 30% off their actual dollar value. The free listings really encourages a low sale price, there is no bumping the price up to cover additional costs.

While looking a the WOMO page, I noticed a banner ad for Gumtree running through and on it was photo of an item I have advertised on Gumtree. I am quite impressed at the exposure my free ad is getting. I have sold other items through this site and find it works very well. I have also paid to have ads promoted on pages but this has not proved as successful as the free option

southernrebel11 27 Dec 2012

now there's a coincidence as I can be on my hotmail and my gumtree ad will go acrosss the page on a banner - seems to me they know the connection but all good :)
