An experience not to be missed. You eat in your own 'tent', on cushions and a low table. Such a good variety of dishes. Last time we went we were with a group of friends and just ordered a bunch of dishes which could be shared. Garuva is BEAUTIFUL. The bar at the back with the lounges is a great place to relax with a couple of drinks after dinner too.

Recently went here for a friend's 30th Birthday and it was a pretty cool place to celebrate with friends. The are we had was the function area which can seat about 30 people and from what I understand they don't charge to hire this area which is a big bonus as alot of restaurants charge to use private dining areas. There is also a small opening to the main bar attached to this function area which is handy as people can just jump up and grab their drinks from there which saves the hassle of splitting drink bills at the end of the night. With all meals being $25 it makes it pretty easy to split food bills too. The food was tasty and the drinks were great. It has a very cool vibe to it and I would definitely consider doing another celebration there.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a very long time so when a friend of mine had her birthday here I was very excited to see what all the hype was about. Firstly there is no signage so basically it's like the restaurant is too cool for a sign, you should just know where it is (a little pretentious if you ask me). When we arrived it was happy hour cocktails which was fantastic as they have a HUGE cocktail menu, there is like 30 on there and at only $12 during happy hour they are well worth it. The bar area is really dimly lit and moody and a very relaxed way to begin your night. The restaurant itself is filled with curtained off private dining areas with low tables and cushioned seats on the floor, no actual proper seats. It's comfortable enough for a while but too long on the floor and everything starts to fall asleep. The food was fine but nothing special, mostly asian influenced. I have had much better food at much cheaper prices but it's more about the atmosphere. The biggest downfall were the toilets, they are appauling! All in all I would go back if someone invited me but I would not go out of my way to head back.

The food served at this resturaunt is quite good, modern asian style moderate to large tapas style dishes which are designed to be shared.
The vibe (being a "secret" although obviously not-so-secret resturaunt anymore) is quite good with tables set low, guests are seated on cushions, and surrounded by cutains of opaque chiffon which gives a nice sense of intimacy.

The staff however I have always found to be unhelpful and rude, especially when we had a friend's birthday there and they refused to cut up or provide plates/ cuttlery for the cake we had already talked to them about. Worth a try but be prepared for the service.

I liked your review because I agreed with it...don't think I'll go back again because of the service. It was a fun novelty night out but once is enough.

Favourite restaurant of all time. Great food, great service. Atmosphere is amazing and live music is a very nice touch in the cocktail bar.

This is the funkiest restaurant in town. The door is basically a hole in the wall with little to no signage (so it's a matter of if you're cool enough to know us, you don't need a sign). You then walk in to this mini rainforest then through to the main restaurant. It has a bar area where they sometimes have live music and great cocktails. The restaurant itself is the highlight though. You sit on the floor and it's in 1 huge space but your table is separated from everyone else's by translucent white curtains. You get that amazing balance of intimacy with your friends but you still see the shadows and hear the murmurs of the other guests. The food is good - not amazing but everyone will easily find something they like. Asian fusion style. I'd say average to high prices. Good dishes to share. It's more about the atmosphere and it's worth it for that! You HAVE to book ahead especially on weekends.

Fantastic restaurant in the valley which is hidden away and has gained popularity from word of mouth. The food is excellent and I like how prices for meals are the same price. The bar area is trendy upbeat and still relaxing. Staff are friendly. Great intimate atmosphere and even though you sit on the floor it is cushioned and comfortable. Live music also on some nights which can make it noisy.

decent food that probably lacks a little in terms of portion size, but the atmosphere and decor alone makes up for it!

One of the best places in Brisbane to take that special someone to for a special occasion. Very romantic atmosphere and service is quite decent. Food is also not too bad.

This is a funky place - low lighting, curtains, privacy. It is difficult for the staff to keep an eye on everyone so service is average, and food is well priced but not the most outstanding in town. Definitely a place to visit for the atmosphere more than anything.

Approximate cost: $20.00
