I've purchased several books on Fishpond and a few CDs and DVDs. The DVDs and CDs arrived quickly but the delivery for the books was a little bit slow. The cheap prices and postage make up for it.
They have a really good range of products. I have bought CDs and DVDs on this website.
The prices are very competitive, but the shipping time can be a bit of a wait, although they do advise expected delivery dates, albeit, after having ordered.
Positive is delivery is free.
I have bought quite a few things on this website and although the purchases do not always arrive quickly, I am pleased with the items and the price. I usually am buying well ahead for Christmas etc so the time delay is not a problem as I am aware of it. There is free delivery which also makes it a pleasing site.
Was getting a bit annoyed with Fishpond, but they have redeemed themselves. Still a tad difficult to communicate with but they have in the end, resolved my queries and responded to me. I notice they have apologised on their site for not answering emails. Seems they have had a few technical difficulties. Will continue to use them.
Used to buy books from Fishpond but after several dissapointed orders ( I ordered the books but books never arrived, althought the website said it has it in store, not to mention the stress to follow up with the them). I know their price is fairly good but I now would rather buy from other online stores to avoid dissapointment.
Approximate cost: $50
I use this site mostly for DVD's, where their prices are very competitive and free shipping is always a bonus. Have not used to sell, only to buy.
For books, there are cheaper options - use booko.com.au to compare.
Do not use if you need items in a rush, or order for Christmas after mid-November, or you will be disappointed. Shipping is slow, but if you find the item at the best price and aren't in a hurry, this is the website to buy from.
I have bought and sold on fishpond and found it easy and hassle free.I have sold about 20 books and love the fact that you just search for the book title, and click on ' sell yours' and all you have to do is put your price, book condition etc in. No need to photo and list like e-bay ect- because they sell them new they already have the phot and description up. Just make sure that when you list, you have a choice of fishpond credits ( to spend at fishpond) or have the money paid into a nominated bank account - it automatically goes to the fishpond account, so make sure you have the right box clicked. also if its a heavy book - allow extra in the price to cover the extra postage a you only get paid for $5 or so for postage. Fishpond only take 10% for selling your books once you have sold it- no listing fees- you can also sell movies, clothes and toys- they also have really good prices on their merchandise too, with lots of sales and special money off codes.
sorry to hear, i only had good experiences with them
Have you had any experience with smart sell?
no, I am still deciding about smart sell- what happens to your books if they don't sell? who decides on the price? etc etc. although I belong to an online forum, and am waiting for comments on those who are using it. Will let you know as soon as I get some feedback.Barbara, I have only had good experiences too - I was just trying to tell new people who want to sell this way what to look out for. I have just sold another book on fishpond - great way go de-cluttering and getting some money :O)
Great online provider of homeware, books and small merchandise. I've ordered several times in the last year (books) and delivery was spot on, prices are very competetive. Layout of webside is easy to handle, communication is really good. I'm telling all my friends. Will definitely order again!
This is an excellent site to sell your books. I sold quiet a few that I would have put into recycling otherwise and listing does not cost anything.
I've given up on Fishpond. Delivery always takes more than the advertised time. The discounted prices they show are inflated in the first place. Book Depository is cheaper and quicker for books.
Thanks for the tip, I'll try Book Depository next time.
I agree. Book Depository is fantastic. Free delivery and they are very quick to answer emails. Usually the books you order arrive within a week. I have been using them for 3 years now and will continue to do so.
On reading a review of Fishpond.com.au on WOMO below, I remembered a belated birthday gift I've been meaning to buy. I jumped straight onto Fishpond and ordered a Gift Voucher to be posted to the birthday girl. There was no postage charge for Fishpond to send her the voucher - all done very quickly and with no fuss.
The best thing is that whatever she chooses to purchase with her voucher, the delivery is free, so she gets to spend the full value of the Gift Card on fun stuff. Great system, great service! :)
