Deceptive Conduct

Purchased the following item:

MTM 62CC Pole Chainsaw Petrol Chain Saw Brush Cutter Brushcutter Tree Pruner

Package turned up without brushcutter attachment. I requested they send it out however they refused saying it wasn't included. When I questioned them as to why it was included in the listing description if it wasn't included they advised that I shouldn't purchase an item based on the listing description and should read the full description more thoroughly.

Bought a Baumr AG 40v line trimmer. Terrible quality chinese made toy. Died right after the 1 yr warranty period expired. No parts to repair. No replacement available. Cant get through on phone support. Getting the run around on email. Straight in the bin. What a waste. Only used once a month for about 15min. Do yourself a favour, spend a few extra bucks and get a proper quality tool from your local hardware store with 6 years warranty thats actually going to last.

Approximate cost: $200

Over the years I've bought many items from Edisons.
I purchased a complete battery lawnmower in Sept 2017 through Ebay for $249. I've only charged the battery around 20 times and now it is defunct.
Edisons want to charge me $140 for a new battery, I would have thought a lithium battery would last more than 20 charges.
Given this experience, I definitely won't be buying anything from this company no matter how good the deal is.

A damaged item was delivered.
After five weeks I have still not received a new product, a store credit or refund. Staff are rude and unprofessional. Response via email takes days and staff on the phone just pass you around between each other.
Don’t wast your time with Edison’s !

We are still waiting for the refund? When will we receive our money back? Can someone in Australia get our money back. The overseas people are very rude to deal with. I have placed several orders with Edisons over the last 12 months. mostly for chainsaws. some were good, some were bad quality. initially there service was ok, the bad version 1 SX92 they sent got replaced with a decent sx82.
so, I thought, ill order more stuff for a big job I need to do on the property . I placed order on 15th April, had my work address listed so that the heavy items could be dropped off at my work instead of taking another 1-2 days to get to the rural property we live on, hence saving time. I booked 1 week of very scarce annual leave from 24th April ( today ) to do the work. Nothing had arrived by last Friday , so I assumed delivery would be today , I thought , no problem, ill have to go into work to get the stuff. I called Edisons this morning to find out when delivery was going to be, and got told :
" Oh your phone number provided was not being answered so we just cancelled the whole order "
So, this phone number is not mine, its from a house we lived in many years ago and must have been a legacy one on my paypal account. Edisons had on file my current phone number ( mobile ) as they had called me on it several times in the last few months to sort out the dodgy sx92 saw. They also had my email address which I check hourly all day every day , after they had emailed me many times about the same issue over the last few months.
This was pretty disappointing , as a little bit of common sense would have solved this problem. not to worry I thought, maybe they will offer to courier them to me today ??? WRONG, they said " oh sorry we can process the order and it will arrive in 5-10 days time "
So, I need these parts ASAP and I have a tight schedule , so I thought i'd offer to be flexible , I have a couriers please account so I will offer to PAY for the courier delivery myself ( they refused as they said they only use Auspost for cost reasons "
I offered on the phone to PAY for Courier delivery, and guess what ..... THEY REFUSED . They gave a whole load of insane reasons " the courier wont wait at the desk, he might leave and charge us anyway , things go " missing " with couriers...... !!!! "
This is utter RUBBISH. Couriers please are SUPER reliable . I send 10K Items with them all the time and full tracking and signature is possible....
Edisons are USELESS. Instead of working with a customer to solve a problem ( EVEN AT THE CUSTOMERS COST)
They simply refuse to deviate from their " standard procedures"
Heads up Edisons , this is the 21st century and people have lots of options. companies who WORK WITH customers to solve issues get more business, those who give silly reasons and refuse to help get reviews like this.
well done, you just earned your place at the bottom of the service ladder.

NSW Govt has FULL TIME Case Manager assigned to Edison's (not kidding)

Purchased goods from Edison's.
Edison's did not meet Australian Consumer Law requirements.
Took it to NSW Fair Trading.

SURPRISE!!!
NSW Fair Trading have case managers assigned FULL TIME to Edison's complaints.
Wonder what VOLUME of complaints are needed to sustain full time employees?

Warning, do not buy from Edison's.

Approximate cost: $300

Hi. Is this real. They have a full time case manager for edisons?
Ive put in a complaint to consumer affairs victoria and ill pass that info onto them.

Regarding the following query... "Hi. Is this real. They have a full time case manager for edisons? Ive put in a complaint to consumer affairs victoria and ill pass that info onto them. Worst company ive ever dealt with."

Yes a full time case manager. Therese is her name. BTW, best to go straight to Victorian equivalent of NCAT (NSW Civil & Administrative Tribunal). They have power to make a legally binding decision (Fair trading cannot). With NCAL, Edisons have to front up a representative or if no representative comes... then they are in an even weaker position. BTW, quite a few people on ProductReview.com said they did get refunds, so it's worth persisting. Good luck.. Indrik

we bought a post driver 4 stroke, hubby filled the oil reservoir and stood it in its case went to use it 2 weeks later all oil had leaked into the case they charged me $16 to send it back for assesment then want @150 to clean air filter said no amd asked for a refund no refund they say We have been notified by our Service Centre that your item has checked and as per the technician you need to pay $150.00 to have units fuel system and air filtration system cleaned.

The Technicians at the service center are experienced and qualified in the assessment and repair of all the items that we sell and as we stand by their assessment.

If the oil has been overfilled on the unit you will need to pay the service fee if they would like to have it cleaned.

If you would like the unit returned then you will have to pay for the return as this issue falls under misuse and neglect.
so now Ihave had to pay another $25 to get it returned to me I will also be going to fair trading we are pensioners and took a while to save for the machine

WARNING, AVOID: This company tried hard not to honour the Australian Consumer Protection and claimed its good are not covered by Warranty. I have purchased two items from this company, on both occasions faults developed on both occasions they claim what they sell come with no warranty. They wont pay for return freight of damaged goods regardless of the ACP laws requiring them to do so where the item is expensive or bulky. They tell you its OK to post petrol power tools as long as you empty the petrol and dont tell Auspost whats in the parcel. They claim that faults on pretty much anything that moves on the damn thing isn't covered by their warranty. "Oh sorry did you actually use the chainsaw that is now stretched beyond use that means its not covered by the warranty. " "Oh did you actually use the starter pull cord before it broke? that means its not covered by our warranty". Both the chainsaw and pole tool are now completely useless.

The last email I had from them was simply - "We will wait to hear from the ACCC.

Best Regards,

Bonnie
Edisons Resolutions Team" - So much for being interested in getting this resolved. The irony is that they watch these forums, respond to negative criticism saying they only want to help and then did absolutely nothing to resolve my issue.

tarao318 20 Feb 2017

We do work within Australian Consumer Law as it is there to protect the consumer and the seller. In this case we know we are within ACCC guidelines. You have advised us that you wish to consult ACCC on the matter, we will wait to hear from them and respond accordingly with the facts.

Simon-F1 22 Feb 2017

Extract from ACCC response "Your rights: acceptable quality. Products you buy from businesses should be reasonably: acceptable in appearance and finish, free from defects, safe, durable, able to do what products of their kind normally do. If a product you buy is not one of these things, it does not meet the consumer guarantee of acceptable quality and you are entitled to have the problem fixed."

Extract from Paypal response - "Case PP-xxx has been decided in your favour"
