I didn't realize if there is such a nice bakery near my house. The pork fennel sausage roll is so nice. Also their Ginger Brulee, a must try. definitely will go back.

After hearing such amazing reviews I headed to Bourke Street Bakery for a little snack. The selection was all so amazing it was so hard to choose- thankfully they were so patient! I ended up with a delicious but small passion fruit meringue pie- worth the $5.50 and my only regret is not eating it so quickly!

Approximate cost: $5.50

another of my favourite bakeries - it really lives up to the hype. i like the sausage rolls and the sandwiches for lunch the best. Its always really busy. there are a few little chairs to sit out the front.

I have long heard of the high quality of the food here, and they deserve every raving comment on their cooking, its simply amazing! You will never taste bakery style foods with such fine flare, as this. Gourmet style bakery honestly. I have also long heard of bad service at this busy little store, many saying staff were simply rude. On my visit to the store I had quite the opposite, to the extreme. I was served by a very cool looking young man, friendly. When I opened my purse to pay I realized that I didn't have any hard cash on me, it was all in the bank. How embarrassing! I asked the young man where an ATM was and basically there wasn't one nearby. He then said that he would sort it out for me. He asked how much little coin I had in my purse, I was way short. He said to me, "that will do" took the money and gave me my food. It wasn't a great deal of money that he let me off, but the shock was that he simply did. He didn't make a big deal out of it and removed my embarrassment. Not to mention I was so hungry that I could have gone back to my car empty handed and started chewing on the seat covers. I was truly grateful and super impressed by the friendly service that all of the staff gave me. The female staff were also so nice toward me, of course they heard what was happening. I felt so welcome there and would recomend this little shop to all. The pies are so amazing, never eaten anything like it before, so unique and delicious.

Approximate cost: $1.80 ha ha

I am so getting a full carrot cake for my birthday, the single slice I had was so yummy and fresh. The place was packed with queue out the door though moved quickly with fast service. Recommend sitting outside, it's cramped inside but cute.

In short, fantastic hot choc and pastries as expected. Felt like a tuck shop when ordering, the staff didn't ask for a name nor gave me a number so she left me confused standing at the corner within the 1 metre by 1 metre free space next to people dining in. No smile no greet no nothing. Glad I had takeaway instead.
Will definitely come back for takeaway only.

Approximate cost: $5 for hot choc

Freshly baked sausage rolls and pies, cakes that will leave you embarrassingly drooling and a good coffe to boot. Burke Street Bakery is a very nice little place within walking distance from the up and coming very trendy Waterloo and Redfern Cope street, and all the marvelous new apartments. Take a stroll to this petit, bakery it's worth it.
