When our poor dog was viciously attacked by another dog late Friday afternoon when we knew our regular vet was closed we were relieved to find out that the ARH was open 24/7 for emergencies. It is horrifying to see your best friend bleeding and in pain and it was reassuring to have the lovely staff at ARH to tend to his facial wounds. Don't know what we would have done otherwise.
The price is steep, but there is no price too high to see your pet being treated and given good care.
The vet that tended to our dog seemed a bit snappy, but we could not fault the nursing or reception staff who really helped to make the experience less stressful.
Bit confused as to why we were advised to take our dog to the regular vet for the follow up considering our experience has been that surgery costs always cover a follow up appointment, however we were happy with the service provided and we would use them again in any others animal emergency situations.

It's never fun taking an animal to a vet, particularly in an emergency. I was faced with just such an emergency last year, when, at 11pm at night, my cat started gagging. We found the number for ARH, and were offered free, helpful, calm advice over the phone, and advised to give them a call and bring him in he wasn't back to himself in 30 minutes of supervisation.

He didn't get better by himself, so we found ourselves at the ARH at around 12pm at night. The woman at reception was friendly and accomodating, and the vet was lovely--really calm and reassuring.

As it turns out, the silly thing had just eaten a cockroach, and got a leg caught in his throat, and was completely fine. But the staff were wonderful, the hospital was clean, with good parking, and great facilities.

We'd definitely go back there again in an emergency--the fact they're open and available so late was wonderful. But they ARE expensive--you pay a premium for the late night call, which I can understand. But we'll still stick to our normal vet for normal-hours issues.

I have been taking birds to ARH for the past 2 1/2 years. The vets, vet nurses and receptionists at ARH are exceptional. Their avian vet, Dr Stacey Gelis, has excellent diagnostic skills and is thorough, gentle and caring of all the birds he sees, while at the samr time not over-servicing. In the time I have been taking birds to ARH, we've never lost a bird in avoidable circumstances. There is no other avian vet in Sydney that I would take my birds to.

When my cat came down unwell and my vet couldn't work out what was wrong with him he reffered him to the ARH at Homebush. Nothing was too much trouble for the vets at ARH, would defiantly reccomend them highly.

We were referred to this hospital by our local vet. My daughter's dog had renal failure. the Dr that was put onto the dogs case has been fantastic. We have rung her at odd times, and even when the Dr was in another city for Christmas , she was still on the case via the Dr on duty. As a night shift worker they allowed me to visit at 1am , 2am, what ever time I could arrive there.

Saved my cat life...I was an absolute mess and the staff there were so caring, professional and absolute miracle workers. I cannot recommend them highly enough...thankyou

My cat needed specialist care and the people at the referral hospital were fantastic. The staff are professional, caring and will treat your pet with the utmost care and attention. They are open 24/7, offer emergency treatment and were very helpful and caring when I rang in the middle of the night when I was worried about my cat. I cannot rate them high enough.
