Not sure why everyone likes this place. I live down the street to it (walking distance) but will drive to another fish and chips place because a salt and battery is not only expensive, they have flat, flavourless fish and calamari. The only good thing about them is beer battered chips, which I will happily eat but their seafood is seriously lacking. I have given these guys 3 tries over the last 2 years. Time shows no improvement, was disappointed every time.
They rely on the area's wealthy local, and indiscriminate student populations to stay open.
Before I wrote this review I had wondered why so many people are complimenting this place. I guess if you paid exorbitant amounts of money for something, and your other choice is instant noodles, you'd think it was really good too.
I have not tried their burgers.
There are two other fish and chips shops in the area (indro and taringa). I recommend giving those a go instead.
Approximate cost: $20
Fabulous burgers and great chips. Convenient location close to uni. Reasonable prices. I love going here.
Approximate cost: $10
Went here when I used to live around Indooroopilly. The food is good and quite reasonably priced and the atmosphere is nice. I didn't go for the fish at all as I'm not a big fan but there were plenty of other items.
The food was very tasty with a great price. The chefs there were very talented. The fish was fresh and there was a wide range of options for what to eat, as well as non-fish items.
Approximate cost: $10.00
Along with very good fish and chips, these guys do a great burger too. The burgers are done on a very tasty, substantial bread. Their choice of soft drinks are good, and the cola is very tasty, but the drinks are too expensive. Definitely a great place for some take away fish and chips.
For some unknown reason there are a lot of people who go on about how great this seafood shop is and I must admit I was one of those people until I found a fly in the battered product I was about to eat. Ever since then I have been turned off this restaurant and prefer to buy fish and chips from another takeaway store that has better value for money.
convenient lunch/dinner/snack location especially for UQ students. the service was quick, portions were satisfactory, and yummyness rating is just OK. not anything super special but it's not bad either.
Approximate cost: $9
Had to stop here and eat with my friend, as she recommended it. To me it looked a bit expensive for fish and chips, and there was a lot of people there and I was really hesitant about hanging around waiting for too long, but my friend assured me it was worth it. So we did wait quite a bit for our fish and chips, but they turned out to be well worth it. They were just fresh cooked and loads of flavour.
A salt and battery provide great fish and chips at a very reasonable price. The fish is always fresh and delicious and the staff are friendly. A great Fridan night takeaway
Approximate cost: $12
The best fish and chips I've ever had and at a really affordable price as well. When you go to a food place that is so busy you can't get a table you know that they're doing something right. Great service too.
