LS (Long suffering (but happy)) husband and I had a dinner date here. He: "The Maid Beef Burger - with egg" - (hold the beetroot relish!); Me: "Moroccan style Chicken Kiev" (good to know the Turkish and Russians are getting along). He did not speak momentarily, having trouble fitting his mouth around the burger, which was very tasty. Well seasoned and crispy chips and well-cut coleslaw (very important). My meal? Each element had its own taste; chicken, cous cous and dressing, yet I knew what I was putting in my mouth even with my eyes closed, BUT the Union was successful. AND fresh crispy asparagus NOT soggy. Excellent service, a girl with a smile in her voice. No alcohol; price below for 2 meals, 2 soft drinks and dessert.

Crafty Lady and I enjoyed my birthday lunch here. Situated beside a fodder store, the setting is quaint, rural and natural. We enjoyed the all day breakfast which was hearty and tasty. We ordered "Eggs your way", one serve of bacon and 2 cups of coffee (the way I like it - hot skinny latte). There were 3 other tables occupied, yet we could converse comfortably. Very relaxing.

After many coffees, teas and snacks at this little gem of a place, with Coffee Snob, I thought I'd like to add my voice to what appears to be many other happy customers. The highlight is that the beverage is made just how you like it - compliments to Narelle. We tried a breakfast as a treat and were NOT disappointed with the quantity and quality. These people know their stuff. We especially appreciated Narelle's sweet, efficient and friendly manner. She's quirky but not over the top. Congratulations Our Place - another happy customer.

Coffee snob and I are on the prowl again and we found Southern Crema in Hahndorf. Business owners, Chris and Helen used to run The Roastery (Hahndorf) a few years back, left and have returned. Their coffee is made from the coffee beans which they roast and sell. Coffee snob had her Strong Cappuccino and I watched as her eyes closed in spiritual appreciation of the aroma and taste. Whatever!! Then I tasted my Hot Skimmer Flat White. Hmmm. So she wasn't exaggerating. We each also indulged in a mini tart - enough to satisfy the taste buds but half the calories? The café is neat and small but the coffee experience is well worth it.

The atmosphere is exceptional. We have visited in Summer and Winter and it is really cosy - a continental feel with the décor and plants. We have eaten lunch on two occasions and coffee and cake on several others. The coffee and tea is quite good, being made as ordered. The food quality and range of choices is good. The staff have been, on three of those occasions much too impatient when they deal with customers. I observed, on a recent visit (Jan 2014) the waitress treating each customer, before me, with impatience. When my turn came there was no time to enquire about anything as I was treated with the same impatience. With my excellent pie came ??, COLD pie and no offer of cream or ice cream. We sat enjoying our drinks and food for 30 minutes next to two tables packed with used dishes. Customers from two other tables continued to place used plates etc onto these two tables so they could sit down to clean tables. Overlook the erratic staff and the food and atmosphere ARE acceptable.

The food is more than good which does lure us back. The good bits first - always sufficient quantity of food, very good choice, the quality of each dish is consistent. A pasta with prawn and a seafood dish was ordered AND there was enough of the main ingredients to satisfy the palette. Bad bits - when busy it's so incredibly noisy that we stopped talking when the party next to us had to raise their voices to talk to each other. We knew something was wrong when the couple at the next table were served first (after a 40 minute wait). We were TOLD, if cooking a dish which has left overs, they will serve up to whomever else has ordered it, regardless of who is first. Can this really be true? Our meal arrived almost immediately after our query.

I LOVE salad bars. The Hampstead Hotel did not disappoint. With our Wagyu Beef Burgers we enjoyed a FRESH and decent variety of cold salad and hot vegetables. The carrot and bean combination was not soggy and the cauliflower mornay was well cooked without the liquid run-off that can sometimes occur. Our burgers came as ordered - no dressing etc.. Quite a few diners by 6 pm yet we waited for only 20 minutes. The bistro area is large and noisy but we were still able to have a conversation without shouting. They have a good range of prices and menu choices. Good for a couple or family.

A little space and so a little cramped and sometimes noisy - to be expected. A good cup of coffee and tea, brewed as was requested. A satisfactory FRESH choice of lunch items - unexpected. All up, a cosy space - cool in summer and warm in winter.

I love the service I get in this shop! Everything I have bought - mainly cheeses, deli meats and bread - have been fresh. Every now and again I'll try something different, as they offer, besides the usual Continental variety, Maltese delights as well. The shop is so clean and bright and fresh - no meaty odour. Sonny, should be called Sunny, as he is always smiling and positive. My only negative comment would be that getting to the shop is a hassel, as it is across the parking area BUT well worth playing with the traffic.

We were a group of 8 and all of us chose a different dish. EACH dish had its own distinct taste and there was enough in each dish to share. I ordered the Chai tea, which is made from "scratch" so I was able to have it unsweetened. The Lassis were almost a meal in themselves, thick and mango-ey. Most of the group were not hot curry eaters and coped well with the Fish Mumtaz Mahal, Mango Curry and Dum Biryani but there was HOT as well, for those who like it that way. We intend to visit again as there are other dishes we wish to try. The serving staff were knowledgeable and the Manager, Sid was a breath of fresh air. Everything was possible and he even remembered our orders (and slight changes) without writing any of it down!
