I have only attended private functions at the Colmslie but they have always been delightful. The function rooms have been renovated and are very high class for a place in the suburbs. It venue had the feeling of being in the city, without the price tag.
The food was limited (but I believe this was to do with the food package selected for the function). It all tasted lovely and the staff were excellent.
Don't know if I would want to go there socially as the crowd outside the pub area seemed to get quite rowdy (but maybe I'm showing my age and just getting past all the boozy younger generation).

For a quick meal, you can't go past the chicken. Charcoal chicken has an amazing taste and isn't like the other chicken fast food places. The chicken is moist and flavourful. I ahven't had this type of chicken outside of Sydney or Melbourne.
The shop itself is quite unattractive and dated, but go in and you won't be disappointed. Staff are friendly and everything is nice and clean.

I have only visited Michaels for private functions. On these occassions the food has been fantastic and very generous. We had a selection of meals brought out and we shared them amongst out table - we couldn't eat everything they put out for us.
The staff were very pleasant and the atmosphere was great. We have been meaning to go back to take the family for a meal....

Don't let the old building and interior design put you off. My family have been going to the Gum Sing for YEARS. The food is always exceptional and the service is fabulous. The buffet is excellent and we always leave saying we should go more often. When I think about it, we have been going there for so long, that I can remember going there as a very small child and thinking it was very fancy to have deep fried icecream as a dessert (this was over 30 years ago now!!!)
We are always welcomed with a smile and treated fabulously. Maybe we are their longest loyal customers.....

We love to have pizza as a regular treat as it's cheap and filling (two essential requirements for a large family - there's nothing worse than eating out and still being hungry afterwards)
We have not had the pasta dishes but they look delicious.
The pizzas here are great - they taste awesome and have fresh toppings.
Great atmoshpere and brilliant staff. Happy kids equals a happy mum!!! My kids always to go here for dinner

This review is for Shapland Swim School, Carindale QLD

I will not take my children to any other swim school. I have had 5 children go through the program at Shapland Swim School, Carindale and have another one just started recently.
They run small classes of up to 3 children in each lesson. Each lesson runs for around 20 minutes in the heated indoor pool.
The business at Carindale is headed by Michael and Diana - the dynamo husband and wife team. They are supported by their family and staff who are all equally brilliant and professional. Best of all, all staff are fabulous with the children, they are caring and supportive.
Although we now know the techniques to teach our youngest how to swim, we insist on going to the classes. I can not recommend Shapland's Carindale highly enough.

This review is for The Beach Bar, Cabarita Beach NSW

WE ate at this BAr twice on our holidays. First time was perfect. The food was lovely and the atmosphere was very relaxed and casual. Everything was very well presented and we had a great time. The second time we went, we had friends with us, they ordered their meals before us, yet we had finished our meals before they had even seen their plates. We ordered the same meals, yet theirs was forgotten. We know this can happen from time to time in a busy kitchen, but we were very disappointed.
Staff were not overly helpful in finding out where the other meals were, so again a bit disappointing. I guess we caught them on a bad day.....

The meals were all lovely and large servings. The Bar overlooks the park area before the beach and is lovely and cool from the ocean breeze.

They had a small play room for the kids and also had TAB facilities.

This review is for Skin Scan, Capalaba QLD

verified email - 07 Jan 2013

I have been disappointed by the service at Skin Scan Capalaba. I had been a regular patient there going for my annual skin scan (I have fair skin and a tendency to burn. But I am super careful now as an adult and am ALWAYS covered up now. Sun damage from childhood though!!)
On 2 occassions I have alerted the doctors to an mark that was concerning me. In both cases, I had to insist that the doctor do a biopsy and remove the trouble area. In both cases, the patholgy report came back to say that it WAS a carcinoma (very lucky to have detected early and further skin was removed after the diagnosis). In BOTH cases, the doctor told me that I was lucky that I used my intuition and pushed for the removal.
I know errors can occur, but I was disappointed that it happened in the same way for a second time. I felt that a specialist doctor should be able to detect early troublesome spots etc. (especially when I have repeatedly told them that I prefer to have ANYTHINg removed if in doubt. I am not precious about my looks and vain about having scars).
I have never been back there and will continue with my current doctor for skin scans.
Treatment was bulk billed

Clem Jones Swimming Pool is a great local pool. My kids use this pool for their swimming lessons through the school as the school does not have it's own pool at the moment.
We love going there as a family for the occassional swim (we have a pool at home, but often will meet up with friends at Clem Jones.)
My kids love the slides and because it is close to school, there are always a bunch of school friends there (even if we haven't planned to meet up with anyone).
There are lovely lunch areas and a little kiosk for iceblock treats after a swim. Always a fun day out!!!!
There is a gym attached to the centre, but we have never used it.

This review is for The Beach Resort, Cabarita Beach NSW

We have just come back from staying at The Beach Resort and we are already planning to book for the Easter break to stay there again.
The Resort facilities were fantastic and with a large family it can be difficult to get away and not pay a fortune. It was still peak season while we were away, but we found the prices to stay here to be quite reasonable.
We staying in the 3 bedroom disabled room. So the room is extra spacious to accomodate a wheelchair - we didn't need this but it was the only 3 bedroom available. We would definately book this room again. The only thing that made it obviously fitted out for a wheelchair bound person was int he master bedroom ensuite - this was a large open bathroom and was exactly like the one in the birthing suite at the hospital. My kids thought this was awesome as they could all stand in the shower together!!! I didn't really like this bathroom as it reminded me too much of the birhting experience, so I used the main bathroom and let my kids have the ensuite... lol.
Staff were awesome. We had a function to attend on the day we checked in and we asked if they could have our room ready early for us to check in. (Whilst the said they would do everything possible for us, it really cmae down to what time the people before us check out!!) But thankfully our room WAS ready. We were also able to check out slightly later... again getting everything packed for a large family is time consuming, so I was very appreciative of this extra time.
We had glimpses of the ocean and overlooked the Surf Club, but we were right outisde the pool area, so this was fabulous.
The rooms had everything you could want, included a washing machine and dryer. We also had Austar in both the main lounge room and a second connection in the master bedroom.
We'll be back!!!!
