Best takeaway fish and chips in Perth. On par with Sweet Lips. Definitely the place to go. Good serves. Light tasting. Clean shop. The staff are very friendly. Very busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait, but definitely worth the wait. We go every Friday night and it's always consistent.

Got home from the Pink concert on Friday night and heard water running. Figured out that I had a leaking hot water pipe after checking all the taps in the house which weren't running, no water running from the roof or walls. Isolated the hot water system to stop the leak. Got some advice from a leak detecting plumber on the Saturday morning who was not going to be able to come until the following Monday and located the leak which thankfully was outside the house. Rang Ross who said he could come out but being the weekend would cost extra, he then told me how I could apply a temporary fix to stop water streaming out of the pipe to get me through the weekend. He advised me that since he lived in the same suburb I would be his first job on the Monday. Monday morning he called me to let me know that a regular customer (a nursing home) had called with a blocked drain and the he would be here around 9am. Ross arrived shortly after 9, the nursing home had another blocked sink while he was there but again working locally there was no great distance to travel. An experienced plumber who lives locally and charges a fair rate. We had been expecting a big bill but were very pleasantly surprised.

Lynwood Veterinary Clinic have been used by us and our pets for many years now and are like family to us. Always caring and supportive. They've taken care over the years for four Border Collies, our current two and two previous dogs. From attending puppy school at the clinic through to a caring final visit. Similarly for our old cat and current two cats one of which has an ongoing illness called triad disease. Highly recommended Vets and nursing staff. They also offer dog baths on a Saturday morning where the money is donated to Animals Asia.

Family visit with my father, sister, niece, family friend, wife and 3 year old son tonight after a visit to Bather's beach before sunset. The area outside has been revamped and with the hot weather this week there were plenty of people around. Sweetlips has become our favourite Fremantle Fish and Chips after visiting the beach. Good food, good value and despite being insanely busy our food was served efficiently. Have always had an enjoyable meal every time we've eaten there.

Have an old Malleys Whirlpool cooktop which had some water doused over it. Needless to say it flicked the safety switch and thereafter refused to work. At least 20 years old Whirlpool had never heard of the model the repairer they suggested was going to charge a $99 call out fee. WOMO clued me up about them so I called them to ask if they knew the model, they didn't so cancelled the call out saving myself $100 for them to come to me to say it couldn't be fixed. Checked WOMO and good reviews for Kenwick Stove and Element Centre so called them. Spoke to them on the phone, said he wasn't familiar with the model but would look it up in his manuals. Came out with the right parts for any job for that model and was able to replace a faulty part, clear the water out and get the cooktop working again! Since these old cooktops are very different in size to any modern one if it couldn't have been fixed would have needed to look at new cabinetry so has saved us major dramas and got us cooking again. Hourly rate was quoted as $130 and part was $56.75.

The range is greatly improved since new owners (some time now) who revamped the store. Fruit and Veg quality is always good and the meat and deli sections are very good. Staff always friendly and helpful. Good range of imported products as well. Every once in a while my sweet tooth craves a Dr Peppers and they are a stock item.

Just like our experience of eating at a Hawkers in Singapore. Bench tables and seats, lots of people coming in and eating as a group/family. Being hawkers food it's quick to cook so even when full tilt busy with take away orders queuing out the door the food is served quickly. The take away is the same menu with generous size serves for eat in and take away. No issues asking for little or no chilli for dishes for our 3 year old.
