The best small caravan park we've discovered so far (and we've been to a few). The amenities blocks are new and very clean with lovely homely touches like flowers and pictures. The powered and un-powered sites are all on grassed areas which makes for easy set up of campers, tents or caravans. A few cabins are also available. The park managers are extremely helpful and friendly. We were disappointed to only stay one night on our last visit. We will stay longer in the future.

Approximate cost: $18 - $100

This review is for Birdsville Caravan Park, Birdsville QLD

The park is close to the town centre and makes a great base for day trips to Big Red for example. The powered and non-powered sites are all on dirt/sand only but Birdsville is on the edge of the desert so that is to be expected. The laundry facilities are fantastic and the amenities clean. The staff allowed us to choose from a number of sites when we arrived (we didn't book ahead). We enjoyed our stay.

Note: when the Birdsville Races are on the park will be full, you'll need to book well in advance if you're planning to visit during that time.

The Birdsville Hotel is the only pub in the area. It's located within walking distance of the airfield and accommodation (including caravan park). There is much memorabilia and photos in the pub and a wonderful small restaurant, which prepare great steaks and other meals at a competitive price. I don't drink but enjoyed sipping a lemonade and looking at the photos and memorabilia. We were pleasantly surprised at the standard of service and good prices. It's a lovely place to stop in for a cool drink on a hot and dusty day.

Innaminka is a small outback town in North Eastern SA, not far from the Simpson Desert. The pub is great and the prices are reasonable considering the location. People travel by road or plane/helicopter just to eat at the pub's restaurant. It's the best steak I have ever had, by far (OBE organic beef). They do have accommodation available or you can stay in the camping grounds on the banks of Copper Creek as we did. Reservations are not required for dining but you must get in early as the large dining room fills very quickly. I can't wait to go back.

This review is for Broken Hill Tourist Park, Broken Hill NSW

We have stayed in the park two times thus far and will definitely be back. We own a camper trailer, and on our first trip we put up our camper on a powered (grassed) site for 2 nights. We found the facilities very clean and other travelers very friendly. On our second trip we lashed out and got an en suite site for two nights. Although the site was on woodchips and the en suites are older style but very clean we enjoyed the experience. The woodchips were a minor inconvenience for our camper but that did not ruin our time at the park. The park is only a couple of km from Broken Hill town centre and allows easy access to tourist attractions in the nearby area such as Silverton. We loved it.

Approximate cost: $28-$150

The staff at The Farm Gate Cafe make the best bacon and egg rolls. A large variety of meals and beverages are available and all are made fresh to order. You can sit inside or out in all weather. A nice place to have a meal or even just a cuppa.
