Our family has been involved with Aspire Judo Club for over two years now. We started taking our daughter as she has some gross motor delays and could see the benefits that judo could give to her physical development. Simon at Aspire is great with the kids, he is encouraging and fun and understands how to engage kids in the activities. There are so many benefits for kids to participate in a sport like judo. Not only do they develop there balance, coordination and other physical skills, but they also develop more confidence, tolerance of others varying abilities and sportsmanship.
Now our son also plays judo and has thoroughly enjoyed participating, especially after watching on the sidelines for so long. Myself and my husband have also enjoyed judo for ourselves as assistant coaching staff and as players in our own right. For all those who see martial arts as a rough sport, judo couldn't be further from that stereotype. Judo encourages respect and care for your fellow players as if we injure each other then we have no friends to enjoy our sport with. Although there are throws and hold downs in this sport, there is no punching, kicking or hitting involved. Participants are taught how to fall correctly to avoid injury, a skill which many long term players have found to be instinctive in real life situations which have reduced and prevented injuries. If your interested in building your balance and coordination, learning a great friendly sport, competing in completion or to feel more confident in self defence situations, you should give Aspire Judo Academy a try.
