After 9 months our refurbished iPhone SE showed stripes on the screen and was unreadable. Checking the warranty and the Dick Smith website I found that Australian Consumer law specified that the phone was protected by law for 12 months. When I contacted Becextech they tried to bluff that warranty was 6 months and that for expired warranty I would need to pay a $55 fee plus parts. I pushed back that it was covered under Australian Consumer Law and had a phone expert check it. The expert said it was probably faulty as a result of the original connection fault that caused it to be reconditioned. Becextech partly caved and said to send it in and they would evaluate it and if faulty they would repair it under Australian Consumer Law. It has been a few weeks now and we have heard nothing.
Update
2 days after lodging a review on Word of Mouth, I suddenly received an email letting me know my phone was being fixed. A couple of weeks later bit arrived, restored to working order. Unfortunately, 2 months without a working phone, we had replaced it with a new one. But a valuable lesson to us all, "Invoke Australian Consumer Law".
