This is a reasonably small cosy club, when I say small, it is not as big as some of the other sporting type clubs in rural areas. There are meals available at reasonable prices and although we did not have a meal here this time they are quite good. There are a small number of poker machines to wile away a couple of hours or you can have a quiet drink and a natter with friends.

This club is nestled among trees and shrubbery at the entrance and the entire club is surrounded by grass, lawns and free-ways. If you wish to drink and not drive a courtesy bus is available on booking for patrons around Swan Hill and environs. The club inside is spacious bright and modern with a large dining room, the meals at times though can be a bit pricey. On Friday nights they have a buffet type meal with all you can eat for the one price of $22, which for someone with a small capacity might seem a bit steep. I do believe there are more reasonably priced meals at various other times. The cafe provides a better price range of meals and snacks and a smaller serve for smaller eaters. There is a good range of poker machines for those who like a dabble or ample room and facilities for just relaxing with friends and to have a quiet drink. The courtesy bus will depart at various times during the evening usually every hour but an announcement will be made from the reception desk before departure.

This must be a very popular place around lunch times as we found out when we entered this shop - the place was crowded. We just managed to find a vacant table. There was a good choice of food. sandwiches, pies, pasties, sausage rolls, hot meals, salads, cakes and desserts. Also a good range of hot and cold drinks are available. The customers were served quite quickly even though they were busy and run off their feet. We had a pie which was tasty and a HOT cup of coffee not just a luke warm offering you get at some places. Well worth the stop for a snack or a meal but get there before it gets too busy.

This winery has an inviting outward appearance with well groomed grounds, well manicured gardens, a barbecue area. a lake inviting bird life and ample parking. The interior is spacious and bright with an abundance of wood panelling and flooring giving it a warm inviting feeling. We were greeted by a friendly lady who offered us a taste of the companies wares. The was a good range of wines to choose from including reds, whites, dry, sweet and fortified wines. We settled for some bottles of white and red moscato. This winery is open from Monday to Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm, Saturday from 12 to 4,00pm and Sundays by appointment. Well worth a visit who knows you may find something you like - we did.

Called into this winery which is just outside of Swan Hill on the Murray Valley Highway heading towards Robinvale. A good selection of reds and whites are available and also a good range of fortified wines. These wines are available in normal bottles or in some cases you can bulk buy in 10 litre casks. They will also supply 5 litre plastic bottles and fill these in varying quantities from 1 to 5 litres. There are various price ranges to suit every taste and every pocket. We were served by Pam who was very friendly and obliging, explaining the various wines and offering a taste of each. There are also specials available. Well worth a visit because there is bound to be something to suit your taste and pocket.

This business was recommended to us literally by word of mouth so it is only fitting that it be included in the official web site Word of Mouth Online. We had a problem with blocked pipes and required the annode to be replaced in our water heater. When he contacted us after a referral he arrived spot on time as arranged. Greg Richards diagnosed the problem and went to work immediately. He did, however encounter a hitch or two as these pipes had not been serviced since we had moved in which was over forty years ago. The problems were over come with not much difficulty and as an added precaution extended the treatment to ensure that it was completely unblocked and flowing in-impeded. I was impressed with Greg's ability, professionalism and work ethics as with him near enough was NOT good enough. Thoroughly satisfied with Greg's work and the price was very reasonable and we will definitely be using him again.

This review is for Robin Hood Hotel, Ballarat VIC

While holidaying in Ballarat recently we decided to do a bit of browsing and shopping in the CBD. After we spent all the money we intended to we had lunch and we had a few more hours to kill so we asked one of the locals the where-abouts of the nearest pub. We followed his directions an found the Robin Hood Hotel. By this time a nice cold beer was just what the doctor ordered so while the girls went for a dabble on the pokies we sat down to enjoy our beers. A number of large glass panels depicting an archer adorned various parts of the hotel which added to the cleanness and brightness of the section. While sitting down enjoying our beers we were able to watch the quarter finals and the semi finals and part of the final of the recently completed European Darts competition being shown on Foxtel. We asked one of the bar staff if she knew where our particular bus stop was and as our luck was in it happened to be just around the corner, so we finished our drinks and ambled round to the bus stop. Unfortunately we could not partake in the meals at this hotel as we had already eaten and we ran out of time. However if and when we are in Ballarat again we will definitely revisit this hotel.

This review is for Red Lion Hotel, Ballarat VIC

We were staying in apartments at Golden Point for a few days and asked a local passer by the whereabouts of the nearest pub. We were told just down the road a bit. So we ambled in the direction given and eventually arrived at the Red Lion Hotel. The outward appearance was that it was quite a sizeable pub so after the walk we went in and ordered some drinks and sat in the front patio type area. The drinks went down really well after the walk down. The area was quite unusual in that the heaters were on full bore and only just took the chill off the air as the area was almost fully open to the elements which negated the effect of the heaters. We returned a day or two later for a dabble on the pokies and some more drinks, but on looking at the food menu we soon took a few steps back as the prices were far too dear for a group of pensioners on holiday. There was a cheaper gaming room menu but this was only available for a limited time, and it was past this time and I think the wine on the drinks menu contained traces of "gold" also, going by the prices. We were disappointed at the meal and wine prices so we left and went back to Golden Point and had pizzas at the local pizza place - a lot kinder to our pockets.

We were told about this library by a friend and decided that we should become members. She accompanied us as we went to the information desk and without any fuss and in pretty quick time, it was all done. The staff were very friendly and helpful and answered all our questions in a polite and professional manner. The new "one card" system was explained to us and we then went about and borrowed a couple of D.V.Ds. There are many items to select from books, C.Ds, D.V.Ds and videos all arranged in easy to find locations throughout the premises. To the counter again to present our card and receive a docket which reveals the date the items need to be returned. You can place an item on hold either by visiting the library or on line and this item can be gleaned from any other library in S.A. after it has been returned from a previous borrower and cleared to the host library. It's so easy to source that old or favourite item without leaving your chair.

This review is for Sovereign Hill, Golden Point VIC

One of the better "pioneer Villages" in Australia with plenty to do for everyone. We went to Sovereign Hill some years ago and at that time it was a rather wet, cold and windy day which made sight-seeing quite dismal. However this time the weather was great and there are a lot more additions to the park than before. There are displays and memorabilia to ponder and reminisce over, many buildings and structures to explore, demonstrations like tatting, wood turning, metal spinning, candle making and a host of others to astound and enthral each member of the family and re-enactments at various times during the day to keep you entertained. There are also a number of things to take part in yourself like panning for real gold, trying out the nine pin bowling or having your family picture taken in the costumes of the era, but be warned, this needs to be booked early as it is quite popular but not that cheap. A great place to spend the day, plenty to see, plenty to do and plenty of things to entertain, enthral and interest the whole family. Food and beverages could be a tad pricey, you just have to select your preference.
