We have been here twice recently within a week with two different groups of friends. On the first occasion, Saturday, the bistro was packed but the service and friendliness of the staff was fantastic. The huge menu plus specials, provides plenty of choice and no-one in our party was disappointed. My barramundi was fantastic and hubby's beef pie was one of the best he had ever tasted. Everyone raved over their entrees and mains. The prices are excellent value. There was a children's room with face-painting and other activities and we enjoyed the live musician. A few days later we returned with a smaller group and loved sitting outside at sunset. Again the staff were wonderful and helpful with suggestions. Two chose the Seniors' fish and chips which were huge servings and such amazing value. Drinks are also a reasonable price. I suggest booking on Friday or Saturday nights.

The lady boarding our cat while we were away, became concerned and took our precious pet to Buzz who we had never met. He took such great care and concern with blood tests etc. to confirm his diagnosis of hyper-thyroid. He began treatment after contacting us on our cruise ship and I am sure he saved her life. He consulted with our previous vet who shared his information also. On our return he advised a series of actions, and checked her every few days by phone calls to us. Whenever we had to rush her in, he saw her immediately and provided advice, change of medication etc., often without charge for just advice, as he realised we are pensioners and had paid out considerable amount already for the vital tests and treatment. His obvious loving care, consideration for us and our cat, his regular calls to check on progress are outstanding.

Although I had been here a few times in past years for breakfast/brunch, I took my husband for dinner and what a wonderful choice. The menu is very extensive with specials and on our night a Mexican buffet also offered. I chose the Coastal pasta which was so delicious with chicken, prawns, mushrooms and capsicum in a wonderful creamy sauce. he chose the lamb shanks which fell off the bone and not a scrap was left except the bones. The service was excellent and as we also had an Entertainment Book voucher the price was outstanding value. It must rate as one of the best restaurants along the Esplanade.

Approximate cost: $20-$25

It had been several years since our last visit but someone booked it for a large family reunion/birthday. It will be years before we go again if ever! This is a pub/tavern although with great views (if it is daylight). However the prices are greatly overpriced for ordinary tavern food. $36 for a 200 g steak which is presented with sauce, a very poor excuse for a salad and a load of chips. It was just an everyday steak. The Seniors specials offers a slightly smaller steak for half the price and would have been a better choice. There isn't even table service. We had to queue in a line to place our orders. Two young guys ordered lasagne which again was very overpriced and was nothing special. "It's half this price at the RSL and better there" was one comment. The Caesar Salad as a main meal was also a great disappointment and mostly left uneaten. The duck breast was very dry and didn't even look appetising. Even the drinks were outrageously priced. $10 for a glass of cider!!!!! If this place is going to charge such prices for very poor food and drinks then none of our large group certainly won't be back.

Approximate cost: $36

I had not visited this salon under the present management but I had had a dreadful cut and colour at my regular salon, due to a change of staff. In desperation I asked for an appointment at Hair & Beauty. I was welcomed and offered immediate attention. I also got a wonderful cut which lifted my spirits and self-esteem. I thought the price was a bit steep for just a trim but it was worth it to leave looking well groomed.

This is an ABC shop but has a personal, local feel. It is fatal just to wander in unless you are prepared to go out armed with several purchases. On my recent I discovered new titles by my favourite authors, including two I hadn't known were available in Australia. I also bought some super bargains. There is also a huge selection of great ideas for Christmas gifts.

We gave Mooshka a try as it was in the Entertainment Book and will definitely return as a result. Although it was shady and cool we found a spot with some sun and thoroughly enjoyed our prolonged lunch. The special $18 selections were huse and included a glass of wine or beer. My barramundi was delicious and filling. The ribs were also a huge success with others in our group while just one dessert was ample for two. Service was good although we had to reaffirm our drink selection a couple of times but the atmosphere was very pleasant and friendly. There is also an extensive take-away menu including 10 choices of pizza!

Approximate cost: $18

What a fantastic place! Great food, great atmosphere, great service and great staff. This was my first visit although very popular with friends who had booked for this visit. It was very busy and we had one extra person but nothing was too much trouble for our waiter whose good humour and efficient service helped make it a memorable night. The pizzas are huge so we shared several. I loved the fun graffiti and Monday night special deal of bread, wine, pizza/pasta, dessert and coffee/tea for two at just $50 is a must! But do book as this place is jumping!

This review is for Doonan Valley Garden Centre, Doonan QLD

While my husband was ordering supplies next door at The Yard I browsed the Garden Centre and discovered a wonderfully stocked range of plants, shrubs, seedlings, ornaments and all so beautifully arranged. Rocco and Lucia were so pleasant, no pressure on me to buy and happy to let me just wander and admire. However I couldn't resist buying some lovely plants as a gift which solved my problem as I had spent days wondering what to buy. Will definitely return.

Within hours of being in Sydney several people had told us we just had to get pizzas from Concerto and yes, they are arguably the best we have eaten anywhere in Australia. The queue proved that many other customers loved the food here. and the dining room looked just as well patronised. There were numerous tasty choices on the menu and not just your usual pizza toppings. They were so delicious we went back for more the following night.
