I recently went to Day’s Motorcycles and Power Equipment in Wallan to get some new tyres fitted to the front wheels of my ride-on mower.
When I picked up the wheels I was told that one of the wheels needed to have a tube fitted, which I had no problem with and happily paid for.
However, when I got home, I noticed that one of the rims had been damaged, plus the tube they fitted had a bent valve instead of a straight valve.
I returned to the store within a day or so and spoke to the store’s owner who told me that he was the one who fitted the tyres and that the tube that was previously installed had a bent valve, so that was what he replaced it with. I said I wanted the tube replaced with the correct one, however, the store owner said I would have to pay extra for the correct tube and the labour to have it fitted, and said I should have mentioned that I wanted a straight valve when I dropped the wheels off (I'm not sure why I needed to as both tyres were tubeless).
I also pointed out the damage to the rim and he promptly returned with a large hammer and started bashing the damage out with the hammer.
I was absolutely shocked and appalled at such unprofessionalism by the store’s owner and I can honestly say I will not be bringing in any of my other equipment for them to work on in future. They have certainly lost my business.
