We had a burst pipe which we thought had burst in the concrete slab of our house. We called 1300 Burst Pipe Locators and the plumber arrived within an hour of our call, he dug a hole near the house wall and used his special apparatus to find the burst pipe, which fortunately was just outside the slab. The pipe was repaired there and then.
The charge for this service was reasonable and we couldn't have asked for better service, would recommend them anytime.

I was referred to Kerri for acupuncture as I have chronic fatigue. I found Kerri to be skilled and have found some relief after about 5 sessions. She is also quite knowledgeable on Chinese medicine and nutritional supplements, which Kerri does have for sale but she doesn't try to push them on you and her prices are very reasonable.
Kerri has a wonderful bedside manner and a great depth of knowledge.

As far as I know Vanella Cheese are the only cheese makers in Cairns making true Buffalo Milk Mozzarella. This cheese is gorgeous, especially if you like making you own pizza at home with fresh tomato & basil. Vanella Cheese also have a nice deli with other Italian treats you can't get elsewhere. The family running it are wonderful and very passionate about their cheese.

This wonderful new local product really leaves mass produced and over processed milks for dead. It's Jersey milk (reputed to be the creamiest milk) and not homogenized. The milk is fresh, lovely and creamy and even has that real creamy colour, unlike most milks on sale nowadays which are as white as chalk.
They also sell cream in tubs which is absolutely divine.

I took my son, his Japanese girlfriend and my grandson to the Atherton Tablelands in early August 2010 hoping to hand pick some fresh strawberries at Shaylee Strawberry Farm, near Atherton.
Only after arriving there did we discover from the most unwelcoming pair behind the counter that picking starts in September. Not to worry I politely ask if it would be OK to take little 4 year old grandson over to the strawberry plants so he could see how strawberries grow.
Not a problem as long as you don't go past the multiple "No Entry" signs says Mrs Crabby.
Upon inspection it's more or less impossible to see any fruit as the signs are about 10 metres from the strawberry beds.
Grandson however skips past the signs and checks out the crop anyway, under the eagle eye of Mr Crabby who has surreptitiously appeared from the back of the shop to monitor the trespassers. I anxiously call grandson back just in case a rabid pack of alsation guard dogs are unleashed from somewhere or other.
Strawberries were on sale, one kg of "Resort" strawberries was $12.00 and they are very nice.
I was really amazed at the lack of courtesy, the folks there were downright hostile.

After getting burnt by the GFC mostly from the investments recommended by my financial advisor (chartered accountant) I terminated his services. Some of my investments were paying commissions to the planner and after seeing something on TV about organisations that share commissions with clients I checked online and found 3 companies doing this. I ended up going with MyMoney Australia Pty Ltd as their enrolment process seemed relatively straightforward and mostly web based. I entered details of my investments on the MyMoney website, downloaded completed forms which I signed, scanned and emailed back.
MyMoney Australia is now my nominated "financial planner" and every month I receive around 50% of the commisisons paid from the investment companies deposited direct to my bank account. The amounts aren't huge but I'd rather it my pocket than some greedy financial planner's!

Our office booked Mission Beach Resort for a staff function which included one night's accommodation. We drove there from Cairns and couldn't find the resort in Mission Beach, nor could we find Wongaling Beach Road. The resort's website states the address as: "Mission Beach Resort

We only found it after driving down Cassowary Drive to South Mission Beach. Cassowary Drive takes one to Wongaling Beach.
The resort, which is actually in South Mission Beach, looks like a very old rundown motel. Our room was relatively clean but very poorly maintained, faulty plumbing and a very wonky fridge and definitely not worth the $110 nightly rate.
The function room was quite nice, the newest building in the complex. The buffet dinner however was one of the worst I've ever experienced. An incredibly underwhelming offering of cold ham, tough, grey "boiled" steak, two tiny bowls of lettuce, another tiny bowl of coleslaw and some other limp vegetables. The chips were the only nice part of the buffet.
Won't be rushing back there anytime soon!

Our digital TV reception was very patchy so we looked in Yellow Pages and decided to call Brian Bell The TV Man. Brian and his offsider (son?) turned up when promised and confirmed our 20 year+ old antenna needed replacing. They did the installation very quickly and also installed new coaxial cable. The improvement in digital tv reception was outstanding. Very reasonable charge, about half what my son had paid to another TV company who left quite a mess after the job.

Our house had a major termite infestation and after getting two quotes we used Ivan at Enviro Safe pest control. Ivan really knows his stuff and doesn't muck around. He sorted out our termites with a minimum of fuss. I've had some negative experiences in the past with pest controllers but Ivan is a breath of fresh air compared to the the others, very knowledgable, professional and personable.

I was referred to Marlie about two years ago and I haven't looked back. She is an exceptional hairdresser who has a delightful little salon in Periwinkle Avenue in Trinity Beach. She is very nice, very skilled & professional as well as being reasonably priced. I honestly cannot fault her for my 6 weekly style cuts, she really keeps me looking good.
