Pathetic online shopping experience and total lack of customer service. After inordinate period of time waiting for order to be fulfilled I rang the retailer; staff member could not explain reason for delay but undertook to "ring me back" with the answer. No call back, no order...nothing! Now have to turn to Fair Trading NSW to try and get resolution.

As with so many of the other reviews elsewhere, mine relates to the online purchasing experience. I ordered an item which appeared to be in stock only to discover it was on backorder; not that the retailer provided that information, I only found out after complaining.
The retailer undertook to refund my payment but NOTHING as yet. My next course of action is Fair Trading NSW.
My advice to anyone thinking of ordering online with this retailer:
1. Think again and look elsewhere.
2. If you really must purchase from them, use PayPal so you have recourse via Buyer Protection.
3. If you've had a bad experience with Newtown Art Supplies, please complain to Fair Trading NSW; even if the matter is ultimately resolved they keep data on dodgy retailers like these.
4. Finally, leave a review so others are warned to avoid this business.
