Tom Phat is a trendy Thai restaurant on Sydney road. I have eaten there a few times now, and most recently I had their Phad Thai. It came with big prawns, fried chillies and fresh lime. It was on the sweeter side, but delicious, and very reminiscent of the flavours in Thailand. The service was super fast.

I used to go to Threshmans regularily for a coffee or a cheap bite to eat when I was at Melbourne Uni. Half the place is a bakery, and the other half serves lunches and ready to eat meals. Last night we decided to see if it much had changed since those days. For $8 I was able to get a massive slice of quiche and 2 side salads, my friend had a big bowl of soup and a roll for $6. They also have sandwiches, fish n chips, lasagna and pastas. Its very relaxed place, you have to get your own cutlery and you sit on large commual tables, but its clean and a great for a quick meal before a movie.

Daylesford Mill Market is a permanent indoor market selling 2nd hand goods, art, retro, fashion and collectables...It is housed in the old Daytex factory, open 7 days and is made up of over 200 different stallholders and cabinets. I now have a cabinet of jewellery for sale there ( Silver Addict ) but before then I loved spending the afternoon searching for bargins and trying on all the retro gear. You can take a break from shopping with a coffee or snack in their cafe. I think that this place is a great addition to Daylesford.

Sista Bella is a relatively new bar that I had been meaning to check out for a while. It is owned by the same guy who has St Jeromes (long alley near Myer). We went there on a night where they were hosting a bingo game (but no blue rinses' in sight), so I am told that the atmosphere is nomally a little different. I had a lovely glass of Pinot for $7 and met a few of the regular patrons. The place is unpretentious, cosy, open late and hard to find, just like St Jeromes. I'll will be back to try their mulled wine.

This review is for Railway Hotel, Fitzroy North VIC

I went to the Railway for a birthday dinner on Saturday night. It had been a few years since I was last there and remember having delicious fish meals. Its a pub, but it has the reputation for tradional Italian food. This time I ordered the lamb shanks- they came out with a creamy sauce, and over cooked celery and betroot- not what I was expecting. The lamb was tender, and good value as you got 2 shanks on the plate, but the sides were a little off putting. Next time , I 'll go back to the fish or pasta dishes.

I was organsing a dinner catch up, and had seen how many great ratings it had recieved, so I wanted to check it out for myself. I had been looking forward to having a good American style burger and it did not dissapoint. It was massive ( and messy) and full of flavour. The potato skins and chilli fries for entree where delicious, and I would highly recomend the naughty choc brownie for dessert- there were 6 of us, so we were able to share :) I will definately be back to try their famous thick shakes.

This review is for Daylesford Sunday Market, Daylesford VIC

verified email - 28 Aug 2007

The Daylesford Sunday Market is defeniately worth a look next time you are up there. I have been going there as a stall holder (Silver Addict) for the past 2 years and as a local patron for the past 25! It is definately a country market, with soaps, clothes, trash n' treasure, baked goods and some craft- there even some of the same stall holders since I was a Daylesford local. It is slowly changing with the recent addition of a chai tea stall and some more quality stalls. If you are there early enough you will see the antique dealers out looking for a bargin. When you need a break form the market take a ride on one of the refurbished tains to see the local country side.
The Daylesford Market happens every sunday of the year, rain, hail or shine (sometimes all in one day).

This review is for St Andrews Market, St Andrews VIC

verified email - 28 Aug 2007

St Andrews Market is an eclectic mix of stalls selling 2nd hand clothes, handmade goods, fresh produce, yummy foods, pony rides, massures & palm readers and its all set among the gums trees just 40 mins from the city. I have been going to this market as a stall holder (Silver Addict) for the past 2 years and never have 2 markets days been the same. The market now attracts people from different backgrounds, but its hippy roots can still be seen with the drumming and dancing in the late afternoons.
The market happens every Saturday from 8 am till 2 pm, but its best to get there early to get a close park and to have time to have a good look around. After a long day at St Andrews Market I would highly recommend a brew at local the local pub, conveniently located accross the road.

I needed to get 1000, 2 sided full colour business cards and swing tags printed for my business. I called around and found these guys gave me the cheapest quote and were the friendiest. I already had the artwork done so I only had to pay for the printing, $140 for the business cards and $180 for the swing tags.
I always got prompt replies to my emails and the cards were delivered as promised, exactly 5 working days after submitting the artwork. I am very happy with the finish.

This review is for Trotters, Carlton VIC

verified email - 21 Aug 2007

Trotters was my regular place to escape Uni. Its a small place, but has more atmosphere than the larger Lygon St resturants with the typical crowds. The menu does not change often, but they normally have some pretty good specials that are value for money.
