The botanic is very elegant. The tables are covered in crisp white linen, the service is silver, the wine list is (for my price point) high-end, and there is a beautiful alfresco area.

The menu is great italian, and although not doing anything different than other lovely silver-service italian restaurants, the Botanic excels in providing exactly what you'd imagine, impeccably (although as others have noted, the service is at times a little casual for the setting). We had a bruschetta, I had the fantastic gnocchi, and my boyf a risotto. I hate risotto, but this was good, not chalky or dull.

If you want to sit with elegant customers and enjoy silver service alfresco under the vines, and watch the people walking past to rundle street, I recommend this excellent restaurant.

We're crazy for sushi train!

My mother loves the place so much that we often plan catchups here. The place is quite expensive, but the price is worth it if you are into the gimmick.

The sushi here is also better than anywhere else in the city!

This review is for Amalfi Ristorante Pizzeria, Adelaide SA

I went to this place for a friend's birthday a little while ago. The restaurant is always busy, in part due to the location and lovely look of the restaurant, which is welcoming, with a lovely alfresco area and huge windows looking into a wood-paneled dining area; and in part because of the great menu. The pasta was great, although I was quite unadventurous: I had a bolognaise, because there is NOTHING better than an authentic bolognaise done by great chefs!
The night was fantastic, and I really enjoyed myself.

The only thing I suggest is that perhaps Amalfi could take one table from the restaurant in order to give just a smidge more room to diners. The place gets quite crowded and a wee bit noisy.
Having said that, they probably don't need to change anything because they're obviously doing super well!

I would still recommend a visit, although you do need to book quite in advance in order to guarantee a table.

This review is for Torrens Arms Hotel, Kingswood SA

I am often suspicious of restaurants with an 'executive chef'; it sometimes seems to up the price and presentation of dishes, but not necessarily the taste. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the TA Hotel. Their menu straddles the zeitgeist without becoming too fanciful, and the serving sizes remain generous despite the fancy presentation.

I had a lamb quinoa salad, with a fragrant yoghurt sauce, and my colleague had some meat on sweet potato mash, which I shared because I'm a sucker for sweet potato mash!

If you find yourself in the area, it's a good place for a feed.

This review is for Cherry Blossom Sushi, Adelaide SA

This place is my sister's favourite sushi. For that reason, we often walk down from Adelaide uni, although it's a small trek when you've got the hangries!

I like the crumbed prawn and chicken sushi, and the service is great; the girls are always happy to offer extra napkins or find a bottle of room-temperature water because I hate the chill from the fridge!

Do try it with trust! This place is great.

This review is for Amaro Ristorante, Adelaide SA

verified email - 14 Sep 2016

We ate here on Amaro's lunch menu. We shared an antipasti and a homemade pasta with duck, and these were fantastic. The beers which came with our meals were also fantastic, although I was here on a 'work meeting', so probably should have indulged.

Amaro is a lovely restaurant, although high-end, so not for every day indulgences for me.

The decor is a little dark, although very elegant, and the place overall has a very welcoming, comfortable vibe for a high-end restaurant.

I do suggest you try the homemade pasta, because there is an authenticity and flavour to it which you don't get with cheaper restaurants!

This review is for Ohashi Japanese Takeaway, Adelaide SA

verified email - 14 Sep 2016

I adore Japanese curry: it is often milder and more fragrant than its counterparts, and Ohashi's is great!

The place is a little storefront in the Renaissance arcade, which has plenty of food to choose from. Ohashi doesn't stand above the rest, but is a good option if you're a student with a low bank account and love Japanese cuisine! The pre-prepared meals are super quick to grab on your way to a class, and much healthier than some of the other options!

This review is for Maki Maki, Adelaide SA

Maki Maki has a cute little space in Gawler Place. You'll recognise it by all the red decorations, and the cute little manga-style image of a little sushi-roller (girl or guy) on the wall.

The sushi is great but not exceptional, and the prices are similar to those in the area.

I am writing this review though, because lots of people look for good sushi in the city, and there is some bad stuff in the area!

If you like consistent, tasty sushi, you can try this place without fear!

This review is for Rapid Dry Carpet & Tile Cleaning, Port Willunga SA

These guys are the real deal.

My boyfriend was allergic to our carpet, because it had obviously not been cleaned for a trillion years before we moved in. I used a carpetcleaning service I found on the internet, and they were awful. I opened up the built-in cupboard, which I had expressely told the cleaner had carpet in the bottom too, and found a bus ticket still there, on the floor. Not cleaned! My boyfriend's horrible allergies were going crazy even after their visit.

But the guys from rapid dry saved us. We had them over to clean the carpet, and it looked cleaner than it has ever before!
My boyf's nose has now stopped running and we can get back to normal life. Thanks rapid dry!!

The Iconic is a great name for this business!
They have a great range of brands, some of which are otherwise hard to find in Australia. A great store.
