OMG! No wonder this place is sooo popular through their take away window.
The choices are amazing. White rice. Brown rice. Vegetarian options. Sooo many choices.
I bought a variety of sushi and nigiri and some takoyaki. Seriously thinking of getting tomorrows lunch/dinner from there as well. The menu looks amazing.
Good pricing.
They offer free delivery if you live/stay within 3km of the Geelong CBD.
Well worth visiting

I would rate this place a 3.5. May have ordered the wrong thing which impacts the score.
This is one of those places where you just want everything you see.
Looks like a family owned restaurant/takeaway which makes its own dumplings and spring rolls.
Ordered a pork spring roll but could not taste the pork.
Because I took the food back to the appartment I was staying at, the satay chicken skewer was a little dry.
I ordered the biggest chicken spring roll I have ever seen but all I could taste was bean sprouts. Yes it was fresh. Brought out only minutes earlier but it was oily and full of bean sprouts.
The dim sim was average.
I made the mistake of ordering seafood yakitoba. I should have ordered the chicken yakitoba. I would have made a difference to the taste.
The noodles were tasty. My first foray into japanese noodles outside of a soup style and it was interesting. How ever I could not finish all the noodles but there was no way you eat this dish heated in a microwave. It's just not that sort of dish.
I will give this place another go next year when I visit Geelong. I Really want to try their sushi as it looks great.

This review is for Kebab Spot, Geelong VIC

Not easy to find a kebab/yiros shop open in Geelong at lunch time. Don't ask me why but I just found it hard to find one whose facade appealed to me.
I decided to take the plunge and get a chicken yiros/kebab.
I did not see any meat cooking. In this instance it was in covered bain marie containers.
The person serving me was friendly. Efficient. Polite.
I took my yiros to go with a bottle of water.
They do fish and chips as well apparently.
By the time I took the yiros back to the apartment I was staying at, the lettuce had cooked. Unfortunately the pita was over toasted. Not soft and chewy as a fresh yiros/kebab wrap should be.
I actually wanted to give this place 3.5 purely based on service, presentation of store and price.
The food itself was not bad but unfortunately not brilliant and it could be because it took be so long before I got to eat it.

Approximate cost: $13

The beautiful soul that took care of my needs today has the patience of a saint.
Walked up to the booth/stall to ask when she would be free. She said I was welcome to sit and wait in a chair to wait as she would only be 10 minutes.
Unfortunately she had the customer from hell who I swear found hairs that didn't exist just because she could.
My beautiful threading artist knew just how to handle her and I watched in amazement at the ease with which she plied her craft.
It was my turn. I had waxed my lip, eyebrows and chin on Thursday else where but I was not happy because eyebrows had not been shaped and the wax had been so hot that it awakened chin hairs to sprout the next day with a vengeance.
I explained my dillema to this beautiful girl with great manners and a wonderful smile who assured me I had been waxed but there were hairs wax could not have removed.
And she agreed the caterpillars above my eyes needed trimming.
She set about to work with speed and ease. Fur flying from the eyebrows. Hairs on upper lip there was no way I could have seen coming out. Could feel every one of the little sneaks coming out. Good riddance. And my chin, my problem chin could not be made any smoother as I pick at it with tweezers and unfortunately I have a few hiding under dried skin. Serves me right for picking. lol
The finished product was amazing. The price extremely fair considering the transformation.
I left smiling from ear to ear and stayed with me all day.
Pity I live in Adelaide, South Australia but seeing as I have decided to take a one week sabatical every year, it will now be my first stop, day after I land and treat my face.

Approximate cost: $32

This review is for beejans bakery - cafe, Kew VIC

small local bakery - cafe, limited hours and friendly staff.
I had the chicken pie and meat pastie for lunch. Being later in the day they weren't quite warm enough for me to fully enjoy the wonderful flavours in the pastie.
The pastry on both was nice, light and flaky. Both were flavoursome. I got NO heartburn unlike most other pies, pasties and sausage rolls.
I then took home a jam donut, custard donut, blueberry cupcake and a small strawberry cake.
the blueberry and strawberry cakes although tasty were a little dry BUT the donuts were THE LIGHTEST, TASTIEST donuts I have ever tasted.
Simply delightful donuts.
This is one of those little bakery/cafe's worthy of regular patronage as the owner bakes everything himself.
Swear to God the pastry on the pasty and pie were LIGHT, crispy, non greasy and tasty. YUM

so why only a 3 despite the excellent quality?
Friendly greeting when I walked in but when they realized I only wanted take-away the mood changed.
I ordered the chicken spring rolls, entree bbq pork with plum sauce, chicken and sweet corn soup, chicken with cashew nuts and small jade special fried rice. $50 in total but was charged 60c surcharge for paying with a credit card. I didn't notice any signs advising of the fee and was not advised when paying.
The girl who took my order was terse.
Granted I didnt order the spiciest of foods BUT the food is AUTHENITIC CHINESE. i.e bland. I had to add the left over sauce from the spring rolls which was amazing to the rice and the juices from the beef to the chicken dish in an attempt to add some flavour.
DEFINITELY NO MSG and EXTREMELY BUSY.

This review is for Hunky Dory, Port Melbourne VIC

verified email - 08 Jun 2019

very good sized servings. good pricings how ever when eating here in winter you need to eat quickly before everything gets cold.
This Hunky Dory is actually quite small in comparison to the Moonee Ponds one and if you are sitting next to the door - BEWARE OF THE STEP. Entrance is a ramp but if you are sitting next to it, its easy to mis-step and possible to sprain an ankle or worse especially if you dont have balance. Only one toilet so dont leave it until the last minute.
Had more than enough food for 2 people for only $54.
Worth visiting. Very popular

I had eyebrows, upper lip, chin, underarms and brazilian waxing here in March for only $70.
Absolutely Amazing place with friendly staff.
Must make an appointment otherwise you will be disappointed.
Thourough. Friendly. Fast. The feeling afterward was absolutely amazing and yes they warn you where the pain is likely to occur.
This now be my go to place when I visit Geelong.

This review is for ALRAYA 2 HALAL MEAT SERVICE, Mile End SA

verified email - 05 May 2018

In actuality they deserve 2-2.5 stars but then this review wouldnt be published.
Where are the butchers?
Where is the meat?
Where is the qualified staff?
Took my mother there just before Orthodox Good Friday to get the usual Easter half lamb to stock up. Mum goes meat free for 47 days during Easter so looks forward to her meat.
This place was walking distance from home but we kinda regretted going.
Little meat on display.
2 assistants who didn't know much about meat.
NO butcher. He was out doing deliveries. Wtf?
We were advised we could order what we wanted and it would be delivered.
Na Ah! we want to see our meat.
Don't mind halal because its normally more tender because of the way its slaughtered.
Assistant rang the butcher who was on way in. We offered to return but I guess they were desperate for the sale and insisted they could help us in a few minutes.
We wanted half a young lamb and we wanted it cut a particular way.
Butcher Did Not come out to talk with us.
The assistant had to be told the same thing about half dozen times to the point he brought out the lamb and mum physically showed him using her hand what she wanted.
Still got it wrong. Brought out the shoulder boneless. We didnt ask for boneless but bones cracked.
FINALLY got to meet the one and only butcher, who was inundated with demands from the 2 assistants, and explained how we wanted it.
The whole experience was traumatic especially for my 87 year old mother who speaks little english and was looking forward to her lamb.
They didnt show us the cut pieces. it was bagged hap hazzardly into bags and weight not confirmed in front of us. We trusted what was in there.
We got home - NO chops.
Bare Bones - no meat on some cuts. It was taken away and we were literally given the bones.
Mother was in tears and inconsolable at home.
This butcher shop's saving grace is the quality of the meat but Dont ask for anything that isnt on display.
Such a disappointment.
Prices slightly above average except for the lamb mince which at the time was $7.50/kg.
Had the service been better - we would be shopping here weekly.

have only been here once so far but intend on going back.
yes prices more like cheap restaurant and a little more than I like to pay for lunch but the my pad thai was to die for. Made to order. So no bain marie for noodle and rice dishes.
Not too hot, i.e not too much chili if any. Great texture noodles. Chicken melted in the mouth and the prawn/s - oh my - its medium/large so you know you are eating it. Its charred for that smokey flavour. Yum.
Friendly staff. Can ring ahead. Looks like family owned. Very clean. Big enough. Can eat in or sit outside the umbrellas.
Can get VERY busy at times so timing is everything here.
Average price per dish is $12 for mains.
May put together yum cha by getting spring rolls, dumplings, etc this week. Salivating at the thought. lol

Approximate cost: $12
