This review is for Dr. Pregs Pillay, East Melbourne VIC

I had both my pregnancies looked after and delivered by Pregs. I would recommend him for his calm, thorough and patient nature. He made my Husband & I feel as if no question was too stupid and kept us abreast of the best options for our pregnancies. My second baby turned breech at 36 weeks but Pregs performed a sucessful and painless ECV (basically slowly pushing the baby around with a precision "massage") which meant I didn't have to have a breech birth. His staff are a credit to him and are well equipped to deal with frantic questions from first time Mums over the phone and welcome you like an old friend for appointments. He is a wise and experienced Obstetrician.

I see Matthew Wells but all the Staff are amazing. I took my 7 year old for a check up and he had just the right manner to explain what he was going to do, and what it was for, so that she wasn't scared by all the various bits of optical equipment. She didn't need glasses but they have a large range on offer.

We have a treat dinner of hamburgers or fish from here once a month and are always greeted with a smile. The kids burgers are done to order (as they are kids they prefer them done a certain way) and fish cooked precisely as requested. If you are looking for a local chippy and live nearby, I would recommend their reliability, consistent quality and cheery nature. It is a fish & chip shop, not the ritz, but they deliver what they promise very nicely.

This review is for Greg's Gas Repairs, Chelsea VIC

verified email - 20 May 2013

I just needed my gas heater checked for Carbon Monoxide safety levels and given a service before I started to use it again this winter. Greg was prompt, explained what he was doing throughout the whole service and accurately quoted. He also advised me about the long term out look for our particular (very old) heater and told me what to look out for as far a dangerous wear & tear. Great service!

I needed an obscure automotive glass glue and yet the staff had no hesitation in recommending the appropriate glue, which was in stock and under $10. Friendly owner run business which is also now offering basic servicing too.

You can session skate here for $12 plus skate or blade hire of $4. Friday nights Adults skate free. Both times I visited it was not crowded and was very child friendly. No sign of the 'hoons' I remembered as a child. Bouncy castle in the corner for younger kids (under 9). I was buying a pair of roller skates for my daughter and was very impressed with their service in measuring her foot, trying different sizes and suggesting ways to get the best life out of the skates. I ended up ordering in her size which arrived the next week. It is a family owned business with friendly, helpful staff who genuinely appear to enjoy the products they sell. As we watched them skate around the rink too : )

For a huge store with a large number of employees they always seem to have a smile and know their way around their new store layout. Their low prices do sometimes mean lower quality but if you know your stuff, it is the right place for a genuine bargain. Cheap & Cheerful, what a winner!

I went to the store as a first time parent of a small ballet dancer and was very impressed by the attitude and helpful approach of the staff. I was buying Tap Shoes and received lots of hints and for that product found a great price range (starting at $19!) with the staff pointing out that there is a discounted price for cash. I was really impressed with the staff advice on sizing. I will be back in a flash next time we need ballet kit and would recommend them whole heartily.

This review is for Candy Hair, Cheltenham VIC

verified email - 18 Feb 2013

I used to be a loyal Candy Hair customer. They've been pretty good cutting my kids hair in the past but in their move to the larger shop (downstairs near KMart) their prices have grown too. I felt totally ambushed after a mediocre haircut that would usually cost me $25 was $50 at the end of the service! I questioned the huge change in pricing and was rebuffed by a junior. The hair was clean and still wet from being washed prior to the appointment, just a straight forward trim, not blown dry (so left with wet hair too). They used to part dry it and charge half as much. What a shame!
