The Imp Cafe makes the best coffee in town. By a mile. Rich and strong, it’s almost a meal in itself.

The staff couldn’t be friendlier, and the food is super special - hearty, great flavours, and best of all, everything is made on the premises.

We mostly have coffee and cake, but if you’re there for something a bit more filling, try the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger! If by any chance you have room for dessert, consider the Nutella Panna Cotta.

This little bookstore is a treasure, whether you're shopping for yourself or buying a gift. The shelves are stacked with an eclectic selection of books covering everything from cooking to kids' stories, graphic novels, art books and nature books.

The staff at Crow Books often seem a bit snooty and remote, but somehow it kind of adds to the quirky feel of the place. I'm big on treating customers well, but I tolerate the coolness of the staff because the shop itself is so charming.

My mum and I visit Crow Books whenever we need a special card - they have a smallish range but we always find something unique and special!

Cheap and cheerful, great for students. We mostly get the bento boxes and satay.

Plenty of seating, clean and bright - but not special. Just decent Japanese food at a reasonable price.

To be honest, I think they could try a bit harder to make it memorable - both with the food, and the way the staff interact with the customers.

Korean food in a funky setting, and great atmosphere. Love this place for fresh, authentic Korean food.

The Korean names of the dishes can get a bit confusing, but the stews and hot pots are always fantastic, and so is the fried chicken.

This place is great fun if you go with a group, and order dishes to share.

Spudshed Bentley is open 24/7 - perfect for shift workers and people like me, who like to avoid peak hour crowds.

This Spudshed is huge, with a fantastic range of fresh, cheap fruit and veggies. They also have a well-stocked dairy cabinet, fresh bread, deli meats, spices and the usual grocery supplies you would find in the major supermarkets.

Last time, I picked up a brilliant microfibre doormat for $6, so keep an eye out for random specials and promotions as well.

Voted Perth's Best Fish and Chips for 2019, Tankk offers a huge menu full of delicious and creative options - from Fish Tacos to Burgers plus Salads and Sides. Their fish and produce are locally sourced, and you can really taste the freshness. Try the Stuffed Prawns - very more-ish!

They offer comfy seating for dine-in, and recycled take-away boxes if you're on your way home.

Tankk have value packs and family deals, plus special offers and promotions if you sign up for their promotional emails.

And the cherry on top - FREE slushies while you're waiting for your order! :)

This friendly little cafe opens at 8.00 am, 6 days a week. It's great for a quick coffee before work, or breakfast before doing the grocery shopping.

Their coffee is delicious, and there's a decent range of snacks and drinks. The staff are warm and friendly, with a welcoming smile and a friendly greeting for new customers and regulars alike.

I've had breakfast there a few times - poached eggs and spinach cooked just the way I like.

They close early - around 4.00 pm I think, so they're best for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

Great Newsagent - huge variety of weekly and monthly magazines, including interior design, art and computer magazines. Large range of greeting cards from all the major manufacturers, plus a good selection of gift wraps, ribbons and decorative gift bags.

They also have quite a good range of Australiana type cards for sending to overseas friends and relatives.

The Post Office is right next door in case you're buying a birthday card and need to post it off straight away as I often do! :-)

This review is for Garden Fresh, Karawara WA

This is my favourite local fruit and veg store. The staff are sweet and friendly, and they stock everything you CAN'T find in Coles or Woollies - fresh, local, seasonal fruit and veg in perfect condition, that HASN'T been sitting in a massive cool store for 6 months until all its vitamins have been depleted!

Of course you do pay a little bit more for top quality produce, but on the other hand you can eat everything you buy, so it evens out in the long run. When I buy fruit and veg from the big supermarkets, I find we end up throwing out quite a bit of it - mouldy berries hidden behind the good stuff in the punnet; bruised and rotting tomatoes in amongst the nice ones in the bag; sludgy salad greens you can't see till you open the plastic bag. But at Garden fresh, what you see is what you get, and that makes it good value in my book.

On top of that, it's important to support small businesses that are doing the right thing.

Really good fish and chips. Offering a good variety of fresh fish in season, from Dhu Fish and King George Whiting to Hake. Lots of special deals and student packs available.

As well as top quality fish, they offer the usual crab sticks, hash browns and potato scallops, and old family favourites - pineapple and banana fritters. All with crispy golden batter and not too oily.

Favourite guilty pleasure item: the most fantastic dims sims ever!
