RED FLAG!! DO NOT USE THIS 'MECHANIC' Dishonest, untrustworthy and incompetent.

I booked my vehicle in to have the thermostat replaced, and also booked in a service to be carried out on the same day. I asked that I receive a phone call to tell me how much the thermostat would be to replace, as they couldn't give me a price up front. I also asked that if there were any additional costs on top of the service and thermostat, that I also receive a call to let me know costs. At the end of the day, I hadn't received any phone calls, so I called them, as a thunderstorm was approaching and I wanted to get my car home before it hit. They said the vehicle was ready, and said the bill was being tallied up, and that I could come and get my car.

When I arrived to collect my car, the thermostat had NOT been replaced as asked. There was a $170 charge for an oil filter cap which was broken during the service. The mechanic, when asked about the oil filter cap being broken, said "it was the previous mechanic, so we just replaced it. It wouldn't have run if we didn't replace it." RED FLAG #1 - Caught in the first piece of dishonesty. No courtesy call, as requested, just "pay us $170 for a part that may or may not have been broken 'by a previous mechanic."

When questioned why the thermostat hadn't been replaced, it was responded with - by the male mechanic (and I swear it was in this order of conversation)" "thermostat? I didn't even know the thermostat was meant to be replaced. Who booked this in? he said looking at Mel. "I did," she said. And then he said "well we tested it tested it with a heat sensor and it was working fine". RED FLAG #2

So here I was, with a car that hadn't had the one problem fixed that I asked for, and a completed service with an extra $170 charge for a part that was previously broken by another mechanic, even though the vehicle would not have run if it was in fact previously broken (mechanic's words, not mine).

I had already called them out on their dishonesty twice and was not in a good mood, as I still had a car that I was 100% certain would overheat before I got it home. I left, needing to get home in time for a meeting, so after giving in and paying what I owed, hoping to never need their services again.

5 minutes down the road from the workshop, on the highway in the thunderstorm, coolant started pissing out from under the bonnet all over my windscreen, and over any vehicles that were around me at the time. The temperature hit its peak, most likely damaging my engine in the process.

So, there I was very stressed and extremely angry, broken down on the side of a highway in peak hour traffic in a thunderstorm, not even 5 minutes after being told my car was 'fine'.

I called the not-so-friendly team at Redline EFI to tell them of my problem, and was basically told it was my responsibility to call a tow truck and get it back to them, and after a brief on phone argument with a dishonest employer (who doesn't like being called a liar) I was hung up on. They refused to answer the phone after that.

I sat on the side of the road, waiting for my engine to cool down enough to top up my fluids to limp it home. I got my car home, missed the meeting I had booked in, and was in a very bad mood.

After the storm passed I removed my engine cover to discover the mechanic had broken a plastic T-Piece that joins some of the smaller coolant hoses together. Overnight I found the part that was required and emailed details, and had my car towed back to the workshop.

For 4 days the dishonest, untrustworthy and incompetent team at Redline efi argued with me about replacing the part and holding my car to ransom in the process. On Friday I had enough of their lies and returned with the part which cost me $6 from Repco and had it fixed in 15 minutes. Turns out I am a far more competent mechanic than anyone at Redline EFI.

I hope the owner of this business sees this. If you do, your dishonest employees are ruining your good name, and flat out refused to pass these details on to you.
