I have come here quite a few times and the meals have been average, but decent prices. The staff were quick to bring out our meals and there was a nice view of the beach. However, I think Hotel Sorrento is a nicer restaurant to visit.

I usually visit the Rye Hotel during the quieter months because it is much quicker to be seated. The staff are always lovely and offer help if you need it. However on my most recent visit I ordered the steak and it wasn't cooked how I usually like it, it was a bit under, which was disappointing. But if you are looking for a quick, fast meal then this is a pretty good place to go to. They also have a kids play area, so you can bring the whole family out to dinner.

Approximate cost: $25

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We aim to please our customers and I hope that you spoke to a staff member about your steak being under cooked as the Chef would have been more happy to have cooked it more for you? We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Vicki

The best thing about this place is 1) there is a childrens entertainment area and 2) it over looks the beach. Modern looking, clean and a friendly atmosphere. The staff are fabulous and meticulous. Food tastes fantastic and not overly pricey. Can get very busy especially when it is tourist season so booking would be a good idea. A lovely spot to have lunch or dinner.

We dined here with a shop-a-docket which stipulated 'buy one main meal get one free' to a maximum of $18.50 free. It wasn't until I was in the line to order that I read that both seniors' meals and meals on the 'special' board were excluded from the deal. We had already a) made the trip to the hotel specially to use the docket and b) decided on our meals before this information was made available. Also not stated on the docket was that only specified meal times and days were included. You have to go there to find out. Too bad if you choose a day which they say (only when you are in line to order) is not included. To avoid customer ill-will they need to be more upfront with their restrictions, rather than just having it printed on the docket that 'conditions apply'.
Even though the senior's meal was cheaper than any of the main meals on either the menu or the specials board, I was not given the option of using it as the free meal. This makes little sense to me, because the hotel would have had to subsidise a regular main meal at a greater cost to itself.
However, we bought the senior's meal as planned, and gave the shop-a-docket to another couple who were yet to order. Strike one.
Another issue we had was that we wanted a glass of moscato, which was on the wine list, but they did not even have an open bottle, let alone a fresh one. We had to order an alternative. The young bar tender was most apologetic. Strike two.
So the meals came out, and they were attractively presented and hot. The eye fillet steak and its vegetables were cooked perfectly, and good value at $15.50. The curry was not too bad. There was a lot of meat in the curry. Pity they served me beef, when I had ordered chicken. Good thing I'm not Hindu. Strike three.

Approximate cost: $30

Our second visit to Rye Hotel for dinner. First time was during school Xmas holidays and it was soooo busy, and no one could take a booking apparently when we rang to book, but when we arrived that wasn't the case apparently? Anyhow went again last week - July school holidays this time. We didn't book, but no problem getting a table. The host who seated us was quite friendly and gave us a run down on ordering. Hubby and I both ordered a dips to share and a steak each. My son had a pizza and some fries. The entree was nice and came out quickly, the mains came out promptly too. Our steaks were cooked correctly and quite tasty, they were on a pesto mash which had too much pesto and quite lumpy, plain mash would of been nicer, especially with the sauce choices, the usual mushroom, pepper etc, didn't quite mix with the pesto so strong. Everything came out quickly even though they were also catering a wedding party up the other end of venue. Will go back again, might just try better selection with meal choice based on flavours.

Have been here a few times because of their play ground to occupy the kids. Food has on general been pretty good, service needs some attention (missing meals and quite slow) but overall if you have kids it's an easy night out

Approximate cost: $15-30

Great pub for the holiday season. Terrific are for the children to play in. Sometimes it can get a little busy and you have to queue up for food but otherwise a good night out.

This Pub in Rye is quite a good one. They have a kids area so they are right and the meals are good.
