Hi 'Paul', Sorry I have only just become aware of your post here. I am the owner of this business, and it was possibly me who delivered the firewood to you, as I usually do all outer suburb deliveries myself. Our firewood is covered at the yard in wet weather (unlike most other yards), but if it was raining on the day that the wood was delivered to you, and if it was not stacked straight after delivery, it may have got wet in the driveway, (judging by the cost below, you must have had 2 tonnes delivered and it definitely would have been fully Tarped on the delivery truck).
Our Sustainable Split Redgum (which is the only firewood we sell), is moisture tested on a regular basis. If it is outside in the rain for a short length of time and then stacked in a covered area, the wood will dry out within a day or so. (PLEASE NOTE: in that situation, Redgum would only be wet on the Outside layer of wood, it would NOT have been totally wet right through). Occasionally wood yards may receive some firewood which might have ‘mixed ages of wood’ in the load, and some pieces may be quite “old” wood that’s been laying around the wood chopper’s yards for a long time, (then the volatile oils in the older wood tend to diminish a bit making those pieces harder to burn), however the wood looks the same as all the other Redgum, making us unaware of the very old pieces.
I am sorry that you didn’t contact me directly by phone or email me about your problem when it arose, so I could have sorted it out back then. You definitely would not have had to keep the rest of the firewood stacked up for a year without burning it.
