Came here for a work dinner and we all had fun. Most of us ordered the supposedly famous parma (at the urging of the waitress) but it was good not great, although the portion is generous. Fun place to be with friends.

The Palmy is famous for its parma's - I'll never understand Melbournes obsession with Parma - but really they are merely good, not great. My opinion of the Palmerston is that it's a bit of a shabby pub without a lot of atmosphere or space - it gets quite cramped in there. It's an ok pub to go to if it's not busy and you're just after a beer, but given there are a number of other options in South Melbourne I'd recommend going elsewhere for a feed.

Nice little pub - a lot easier to get a car park than most hotels. The menu is really good - good choices and their parmas are lovely.

the palmerston was always known as the the hotel with the best parma, the parma was not bad, thick breast of chicken, never quite enough sauce and the cheese just right, its great for a bite aftre work but can get quite busy

Renown for its chicken parmigiana, the Palmerston Hotel is a traditional aussie pub on the fringe between Albert Park and South Melbourne. When we visited, I was part of a group of 10 celebrating the imminent departure of a colleague. The service was poor. The waitress simply ignored us, looking over our impeaching stares and even feigning ignorance when we went up to the bar. When the food arrived, I wasn't sure why Superparma rated them so highly. The chicken was very plain and merely just large. It seems like a nice pub for a beer and maybe watching the game, but the food isn't any more amazing that you would think.
