Dined here many, many times in the last 4 years & recently went for my birthday, again & as we do for all our family birthdays/celebrations.
I have to say I was most disappointed this time round, seems the staff are on a hiatus & have become very lax when dealing with repeat customers. I found the service to be ad-hock & annoying.
Food was good, although not as good as last year (Dec) when we did the 3 course, plus a special request.
Perhaps Manu needs to get back into the kitchen instead of prancing around Australia selling casserole pots 'n' pans!
Doubt if I'd bother to return as I wasn't amused, especially after being so loyal a customer who tipped mightily in the past.

Approximate cost: $20 - $45

Went there last night for a birthday celebration 10 of us. The service was slow to begin with so we had to ask for menus. The food was absolutely delicious and we thought $74 for 3 courses wasn't bad. The wine list however is very expensive and 3 of the wines we wanted they had apparently run out of so we had to choose something more expensive. Manu came up to the table and got a piccy with the bday girl and then we each got a kiss on the cheek - it was a great night and would definitely go back but possibly drink less!

Approximate cost: $38

Having Manu come over and take photos would have made the occasion even more special, what a wonderful experience! Love Manu!

L'etoile is a glamorous restaurant. We went because we were hoping to see Manu, from "My Kitchen Rules" tv show....! Only kidding. The food was lovely as was the decor, however I wouldn't rush back there because it was very expensive and I think trading on the fact that Manu is involved. However, if you are celebrating a special occasion, then this would be a good place to try.

A group of ten of us went here for lunch on a Saturday. The food is very good, although the servings are a bit small. Service was reasonable. Parking can be difficult to find, ended up finding parking in a back street.

beautiful scallop boudin in a crab bisque - amazing flavours - lamb rump beautifully booked - no dessert - very reasonably priced at $20 entree, $30 main, $15 dessert and $9 cheese. All the staff were french speaking and most pleaseant - our shared oyster entree was not up to scratch as the oysters were tiny - we complained (nicely) and received a complimentary glass of "sticky" at the end of the meal - would definitely go again.

Fabulous French experience... the food is exquisite.. the service traditional and exceptional. I asked a question about the cheese plate and the waitress couldn't answer so she went and got the chef (shame it wasn't Manu) and he was very happy to converse with us, very charming.

must try the food!!!!! ammmmm try it once at least. If you go out for the total experience of water mouth ready to devour triggered by the succulent smells wafting through your nostrils then you must visit a good restaurant with a good reputation know locally. Again it's a MUST

Exceptional service, the wait staff are some of the best in the game. They were charming, friendly, attentive and helpful and not the slightest bit of french snobbery to be seen anywhere. The night was extremely busy but we never had to wait long for things, we got our water and our menus and the staff were quick and prompt with everything we needed.

The menu is simple and elegant french food, and all courses were priced the same, so entrees are all $18, salads all $22, mains all $32 and desserts all $15. Makes things easier to calculate at the end. Only the specials are priced differently... the wagyu steak special was absolutely divine and only cost $50!

Only minor little details that could be improved, one of our steaks came out with the bloody jus run all through the mash potatoes, so that wasn't a great look, and perhaps should never have left the kitchen but it tasted great despite how it looked.

Also, in one of our fish mains, a fish bone was found! Oh no, Quelle horreur! I know for sure that that was definitely a big no no. But, for the quality of the food and the wonderful flavours, these were minor trivialities.

We even had a little encounter with the celebrity chef, who was just as funny and friendly as he appears on tv. I would gladly return for the food anytime. Great venue.

Approximate cost: $32

The waiters here are EXCELLENT! It has a bistro type of bustle but the service is definitely better than at a bistro. They are very attentive and very cheerful despite such a busy environment.

The menu wasn't too fancy. I just had the oysters fresh. Can't really go wrong with fresh oysters. My partner had the steak and I was surprised that they offer a selection of cuts for you to choose from. Definitely up-ed the impressive factor. I had a side of peas. May be strange but it was recommended. :)

For dessert, we had the pear tarte tatin to share. Very very sweet. Make sure you ask for water with it too. Just to clear your throat afterwards.

Approximate cost: $35
