researched the best dentist in melbourne and came across this group. Delighted. customer service is so seldom found - refreshing. Dr John saw me for a review of my sad and sorry smile and also saw the lovely hygienist. The front ladies are all so friendly, and I even got a gift when I left. I love my plan to make my smile happy again - written and in "chunks" so i can take it at my own pace - i didn't feel any pressure at all from Dr John, just genuine concern. Really pleased to be looking after my teeth again and pleased as punch I found Freedom Dental.

Without a doubt one of the best dental practices around. Their philosophy of 'preventative care' really shines through their service and can certainly see and feel their customer centricity as a business. This is coupled with the best and friendliest team.

Best evidence of this is after referring my wife (someone who is really afraid of dentists), she has become a regular client of Freedom Dental and the advocate for preventative dental care at home!

I had a clean and check up by a dentist - wonderful job, friendly staff, not pushy at all and the clinic smells like lovely scented candles, not at all like a dentist - a huge plus! I have been neglecting my dental health and putting off going to the dentist, dreading the disapproval and recriminations I might receive, but the staff here were lovely, understanding and din't make me feel gulity at all :)

I made a booking with them to check out an ache in my Jaw after reading the reviews online that just keeps going on about how great this practice is. When I first entered the clinic, I have to say that it is definitely much more pleasant looking than the others I've been to previously. After checking in with the receptionist, I was taken into a room behind the counter and this lady started asking me about the reason why I was there (like the symptoms, location etc), medical history etc. She was rather pleasant and explained to me that she was asking me these questions to allow the dentist to have a clearer understanding on why I was there and that there is no need to repeat myself again. So of course, I told her everything. After the interview, she told me to wait at the waiting area and explained to me that there might be a little waiting time as the dentist have been behind on her patients the whole day. I understood and told her not to worry about it as I have nothing planned after that.

I didn't have to wait long before another lady took me into the treatment room and got me seated and prep. She then proceeded to ask me why I was seeing the dentist and what I wanted done. I explained to her the reason and she then proceeded to ask me about the location, symptoms etc all over again. I was pretty confused cause I just said all these things earlier (less than 20mins ago and it was written on a paper). But nonetheless, I repeated everything.

That lady was called out halfway, and then another lady came in. She introduced herself and then proceeded to ask me what I was in there (AGAIN!). I was getting pretty pissed off by the moment cause she was the 3rd person I was explaining myself to and she wasn't even the dentist. Just when I started repeating myself, 2mins later, the dentist came in. Of course, the dentist introduced herself, and then proceeded to ask me WHY I WAS IN THERE. I couldn't take it anymore and very nicely pointed out that it should have been written in the paper that the lady filled up while questioning me after I checked in with the receptionist. It turned out that no one bothered to take the paper and it was left sitting somewhere around the reception area. In my opinion, wasted 15mins of my time answering questions in the room and wasted sheets of paper as well. Not only did the dentist had no idea what I was in there for, I had to repeat myself 4 times.

Anyway, after I explained to the dentist WHY i was in there (pain at my left jaw when I open my mouth) and the location of my pain (it's near the front, slightly below my left ear when I open my mouth and I can hear clicking sound and it's like a dull ache). She proceeded to look into my mouth. She saw the wisdom tooth on my lower left jaw growing in a awkard position (I am totally aware of it as I had the right one removed less than 2 years ago) and then proceeded to hit it with a metal thing and blowing cold air at it. She asked me if it hurt, and nope it did not hurt at all. Her conclusion for my pain: Your wisdom tooth is growing in a weird position which is causing the pain. I was way beyond confused by then. Firstly, location didn't match up. Secondly, I experienced wisdom tooth pain before. You do not get a clicking sound from it! I do not have to be a dentist to know that.

Anyway, she recommended that I do an xray for a better picture, so I agreed to it. Xray came out as I expected with the lower left wisdom tooth growing in a weird direction. That's all. So her conclusion after xray: Yup, it's your wisdom tooth that's causing the pain.

She then proceeded to the CORRIDOR and we just stood in the middle of it while she started explaining to me that I should get it removed and that it will be done by a surgeon (cause she's too inexperienced) to do it and that I should make an appointment with the reception now. Immediately after that, she started gesturing me to the reception. I turned to return to the room and she was like "No, the reception is this way." I said "Yes I know but in case you haven't notice, my bag is still IN YOUR ROOM". She kept quiet and I went to collect my bag. After that, she immediately told the reception to book me in with the surgeon (mind you, I didn't agree to it) and then she was gone. I asked about the price from the receptionist and apparently it will take at least $400 to get JUST the lower one out (I got both my upper and lower one out on my right side for less than $350 and yes the lower one was in the exact same condition as the left one). The receptionist then kept pestering me to make an appointment immediately despite me continously telling her that I need to think about it and will call back if I'm interested. She didn't seem very happy with my answer but left it at that after several attempts.

In conclusion, I walked out a really unhappy customer. I paid a total of 160bucks for an xray and less than 5mins of talking time to my dentist. I understand that she was behind on her schedules for that day but that doesn't mean you can just rush me in and out before even listening to what I have to say. I didn't call back in the end, doubt I will ever.

In conclusion, I was really disappointed with how my appointment with freedom dental turned out to be. I have to admit that I was feeling pretty excited to be there after reading all the comments on the internet but somehow, my experienced turned out different.

I guess I'm the first one in here to give freedom dental a rating below 5 stars.

Was just at freedom dental clinic for a little service recovery. My appointment for today was with Dr John. I totally understand the 5-stars rating now. He was very knowledgable, super observant and really nice! He explained to me about my condition (which was the TMJ) and how to manage it. Very good and knowledgable dentist. I would definitely want to see him again.

Dr John, Continue being the outstanding dentist you are and I'll make it a point to fly to melbourne every year just to have you as my regular dentist!

P.S: I got my refund for the last visit! Really good service recovery!

Snapping your front tooth is possibly one of the worst surprises you can have and leaves you quite distraught. After calling 30 different dental practices and being treated horribly, I was blown away at the level of care and service I received from freedom dental. They completely understood what I was going through and bent over backwards to help me- I would recommend this practice to EVERYONE!

After avoiding the dentist for six years, I finally dragged myself off to get a check-up. I had heard good things about Freedom Dental so booked in with Dr Michelle. What an experience. I am amazed at how non-stressful the dentist can now be! Surrounded by beautiful and luxurious fabrics, cushions, candles and soothing music I knew I was in the right place. Dr Michelle was so gentle, I didn't suffer from my usual fear and she guided me through each step to ensure I didn't experience any discomfort. Thank you for creating such a peaceful and comforting environment Freedom Dental. I'm already looking forward to my next appointment - that's amazing - I used to hate the dentist! Well done!

Simply fantastic!

I wish I knew about freedomdental before.

After many years of bad and some REALLY bad experiences with dentists in Australia and overseas I am quite jumpy and nervous when it comes to any sort of dental procedure.

I developed an acute infection on front upper tooth. It's been ongoing and developing for months, I just never had the courage to see a dentist.
Finally after reading all of the reviews and "google-ing" I forced myself to visit freedomdental.

Simply put, what a difference.
Everyone, from receptionists, assistants, dentists and all other staff I spoke to had what ever time I needed to listen to my, I am sure, sometimes childish questions and doomsday scenarios.
They cared, they explained, they had patience, they listened, they repeated, they offered solutions, options - they were there for me. I was not just a number, I was treated as a person with individual fears, issues and dental problems.

Dr. Tina was so reassuring, so gentle and so caring. Listened to me, gave her own opinion and then did not hesitate to look for a second opinion. She went out and got Dr. John to come in and give his opinion as well. He also had enough time to listen and then to counsel me.

Second appointment was the same, I had a "deep clean" in order to treat that perio infection.

Oh my good. I can not remember how many times Dr. Tina stopped and asked "am I OK?".

I was not in pain, I was just so tense (expecting every second that something bad is going to happen when the procedure started) and she did her best to reassure me and pause at my every move.

When she finished, she took her time again to answer in great detail my numerous questions and she explained what is going to happen on the next appointment.

That all happened this morning.
I decided to write this review straight away to assist other fearful people who may be in a similar situation as I was.

Don't wait. If you are afraid of dentist but need to see one - try freedom dental and join the list of "converts".

I am looking forward to my next appointment.

Just shared a review of my experiences elsewhere but i really cant stop raving about my experiences. Dr John is a great bloke, in his late 30's i would say and very professional - he listened to me and all about my past experiences. I received a well detailed plan on how to get the smile i have been needing and wanting for years. I was reluctant to persue yet another dentist, but glad i listened to the recomendation. The prices were suprisingly good and the quality - both service and environment - was extremely high. i will be telling my family and friends. Oh yeah, they have the gas as well!!!

Approximate cost: $60 for exam/consultation

In my mid 50's I have had my share of dentists to date. This practice takes dentistry into the 21st century in terms of frontline customer relations, keeping in touch with reminders, service with a smile. I know you're not supposed to enjoy a visit to the dentist but by jeez, these guys come close to changing that perception. And taking nothing away from the many technicians who have attended to me, Sandy .... you are awesome and thorough. Have you anytime to look into my mouth.
