If your menu says "Toast" please toast the bread otherwise it is just soggy bread. Awful and lazy cooking. Lack of providing quality to the customer.

Have such great childhood memories of this place. It always offers a stunning atmosphere on a sunny day. The food is fairly average and is quite pricey but its a lovely visit always

I love walking down the steep path to the boathouse - it really it like leaving melbourne and heading out to the country for a day. All the while staying in Fairfield. The quality of the food is reasonable, as are prices for a cafe. However I agree with other reviewers, that service can be a bit on the slow side. I'm not quite sure why more staff aren't put on as they can get very busy over lunch, and a sunny day always means many people by the water. That said, the experience is worth the wait.

I share the same sentiment as previous reviewers. Set in a great location, Studley Park is a good spot for hikers, dogwalkers, cyclists, families, kayakers or those who just want to breathe some fresh air. The food at the boathouse however is overpriced, of poor quality and the service extremely slow. They are surviving only because there isn't another cafe in the vicinity.

Beautiful environment, great building and history, excellent river views and great place for kids. Terrible, greasy food, overpriced - yuk. Such a shame as this could be an incredible venue. I live around the corner and can't bear spending money there.

I got married here in March 2009. Prior to that my husband and I had spent many lazy Sundays here. We love the old world atmosphere (I'm a history lover) and taking a boat for a row down the Yarra. The Devonshire teas are perfect for this place.

going to fairfield boathouse for an afternoon of sun river and devonshire tea is a an absolutely delightful way to spend a day. the serene surrounds are perfect for taking your scones or other items and exploring the park land.

the service is adequate, and gets fairly busy on better weather days, so be prepared to take a walk from the car to get to the cafe. outdoor seating is the main staple and the pine seats aren't the most comfortable, but this amounts to little compared to the view of ducks and geese on the pond as you enjoy a nicely brewed coffee

Approximate cost: $12
