One of the most famous places to enjoy seafood in Sandgate. Highly recommended. Though you might always want to grab takeway and sit in the park by the sea.

My partner and I love dougs! We used to live in Sandgate for a while and went there all the time. Breakfasts are great, but their fish and chips are to die for! I also love that they have fresh seafood not just the standard battered/crumbed stuff that most places have. Their greek salads are delish!

Approximate cost: $10

Met friend for coffee last Sunday morning - had heard great things about Doug's from various locals/acquaintances - highly over-rated I'm sorry to say - ordered coffee only as breakfast menu was very limited and this is ultimately a fish/chip shop which dabbles in breakfasts - we saw customers eating breakfasts - no menu visible on back wall - only seafood takeaway/eat in menu - not until we walked up to counter that we were able to see breakfast menu - laid on front counter - would be much better if menus were available at front of café, or even on tables so we could peruse them prior to going up to counter to order - no EFTPOS available, which would limit a lot of customers - I was prepared as I had been told about this by a friend prior to going. Overall, coffee was OK, but don't think I'd visit again for breakfast - fish and chips maybe.

I love Doug's. Whenever I have breakfast anywhere else I'm like: I could have had it tastier, quicker and certainly for a much lower price, at Doug's. This is a great spot to stop if you are a cyclist. There is a good view over the waterfront and places in the shade or with a little bit of warm sun if it's winter. The service is mostly very good- there are a couple particularly good waitstaff. The value for money is particularly good and my friend and I have been able to alter our orders slightly to get exactly what we want (i.e. to avoid extra food we wont eat) and not have to pay extra, this is great! And it's tasty and reasonably quick unless its really busy. Things arent always 100% perfect but are consistently pretty close, hence the 5 stars. If you have a problem with your meal, let them know, and if they aren't super busy they will quickly do something about it.

Great spot on the waterfront at Sandgate, really fresh and delicious fish, chips AND salads, quick and friendly service and good value for money.

This cafe is great for its location - across the road from an expanse of parkland overlooking the ocean - and its selection. With a non-seafood eater in the family, the cafe offers a range of non-seafood choices. The salads are generous serves and have a variety of ingredients. The prawn cutlets are fairly standard and the grilled fish can lack flavour but otherwise there's alot to like here! Weekends are always busy - throw a picnic rug in the car in case you can't get a table.

My husband and I have been several times and the level of service and quality of food vary greatly. The prices per piece of fish are a bit higher than other places, so you expect high quality. Sometimes you get it and other times the fish comes out a greasy mess. When its good its great and the portions are always large, but it varies too much to recommend. Getting a seat can be a challenge and if you do manage to, sometimes there are not enough staff to clear and wipe tables. Over all - there are better places to get a good fish meal.

Approximate cost: $15.00
