I've only used the only ordering and am also a member. Delivery is prompt and there is a large variety of seeds and plants. Personally I've only ordered seeds and these are good. They also have a good range of books and tools.

Fantastic range of organic, heirloom varieties of productive plants and perennials. Major focus on sustainable gardening and growing your own food. I LOVE DIGGERS! Joining the club ensures cheaper prices on everything and free entry to Heronswood and St Eath gardens.

Approximate cost: $4-40

New member from Garden show in Sydney. Then realised that all the gardens/workshops are in VIC and I'm in Sydney, NSW. Ordered a stack of seeds etc and a month later (literally 1 month today), 3 phone calls over last 2 weeks and still no seeds. I was told the order was shipped a week ago, but no seeds. Then the order would be resent express so I would have them in time for planting this long weekend and unfortunately no sign of seeds.

I really want to like the diggers club, love the idea of heirloom/non hybrid plants and have placed 2 large orders, but disappointingly I have now lost a month of Spring growing and still unsure when my order will turn up.

Approximate cost: $320

I was really disappointed with Diggers, especially after seeing all their lovely, glossy mags with all the plants I could grow (maybe just to get you in). My first order I ordered some seeds which, although did come a little slow arrived fine and grew ok. Though I have since noticed I could of got these cheaper elsewhere. Then I ordered some plants in pots. The plants were very substandard for what I paid for, nothing more than seedlings. My third (and final) order, or should I say attempt at ordering was via their website for both plants and seeds together. I nearly died when the postage came up! I rang to check with staff and was told this amount was correct as they had to be sent separately so two separate postages. I argued why this was the case, that they couldn't send two packets of seed with the plants and save me, their customer, the postage. I was rudely told no they did not do this. Needless to say the order did not go through and I emailed them asking no more contact please. What a waste of membership! I have ordered from other garden companies for years now and have never been treated so rudely nor had to pay ridiculous postage costs. I think Diggers are only good for those who can actually visit them, so my advice is forget the mail/online ordering.

I originally wanted to join diggers years ago, but was sick of putting in gardens for landlords, so I joined before the ink on the mortgage was dry. There were some initial problems, true, but these have largely been addressed. They sometimes get VERY busy the first few weeks after a catalogue comes out, and delays can be experienced. However the staff are helpful and have given me one order completely free, when problems occurred. The concept is good, the articles and information riveting and conciousness raising. There are some items I thought I would never own and are unavailable through local outlets - I finally got the Greengage plum tree I had wanted since I was 10y, which other fruit tree wholesalers had dropped due to drought. Mouthwatering range of melons and strawberries. New varieties every year. They also have workshops and a kids membership, and helped the bushfire victims replant.

We love the diggers club and order all our fruit and Vegetable seeds and plants from them. We can't wait for the catalogue to arrive half the fun is deciding what to plant. The staff are always on hand if you need help. Service is always prompt.
