Food as adequate but not as fresh as it should be. Flavours for the Unagi (eel) was overpowering. If you are looking for authentic Japanese, this wasn't. Overall, not great value for money. Quality is similar to take away Japanese bars.

My whole family liked this restaurant (even the kids!) the sushi and sashimi were a little bit different, presentation was divine. You must book, the first time we tried to go there, we ended up somewhere else. Busy even on a week night. Edamame are even tasty cold.

Ayame is my favourite Japanese restaurant. My husband even likes the sushi and he hates sushi. the terriyaki chicken sushi is a favourite, along with the sesame spinach, gyoza and agadashi tofu. the waiters are very attentive and make sure that you have always got a full glass of water and are content with the food.

The restaurant has changed hands and is now under ownership of some Chinese people (The original owners were Japanese). The quality/taste of the food has declined and lacks the zest/freshness of its original menu. Whilst many dishes listed are the same, the taste is different. It is unfortunate that the standard has not been maintained :(

If you want ultra fresh sushi, sashimi and nori rolls visit Ayame for very high quality food. It's a true Japanese restaurant run by Japanese (compared to some which are run by Chinese!!) The sushi/sashimi platter is both a visual and taste bud delight with many types and styles on the one plate - let the sushi chef decide for you what to put on the plate so he can put the freshest available from the market that morning. Spicy tuna rolls are a trademark here and have a hint of chilli to give a great flavour to already fresh fish. Other dishes on the menu are more fusion Japanese and if you've ever seen the Iron Chef show on SBS then these are some of the style of dishes you will taste. What may seem strange and odd actually works well such as the duck with soya beans. Gyoza (Japanese dumplings) have a special chilli sauce served in addition to the regular soy sauce. More traiditional dishes are also available such as teriyaki chicken, tempura and crumbed pork cutlets. For desserts order a mix of desserts/sampler pack so you can try no only the ice creams but the cakes too which is a great way to end a Fusion Japanese meal.

Approximate cost: $25

Please note that this restaurant has changed ownership. The quality of the food has deteriorated signficantly in taste, quality and flavour. I recommend other places to try such as Koko in Crown Casino or Yuuu in the city. Very disappointing.

The restaurant wasn't that packed but we had to wait a bit between each dish, the waiting staff are friendly but sometimes not attentive enough. The Food is fantastic, one of the best fusion jap restaurant in tow, very fresh seafood.

Approximate cost: $25
