6 reviews about Accent Blinds

5 months ago, I accepted a quote for Accent blinds to install Plantation Shutters throughout my house. After paying my 50% deposit, I assumed that within a reasonable time I would have lovely new shutters in my home. How wrong I was...
After providing the company with the Dulux standard colour that I had paid an additional $300 to have, my nightmare began.
Accent blinds failed to begin making my shutters, instead continued, for the next 4 MONTHS to ring me to enquire as to what colour I had chosen. They even insisted that I paint a piece of timber with a sample of the colour chosen (remembering here, that the colour chosen was one of Dulux's most popular colous...Antique White, and easily checked at ANY hardware store.) This sample was requested 6 weeks after production was supposed to have begun.
This total shamble continued with Accent Blinds reassuring me for months that they were ready to begin production on my shutters, and foolishly I believed that they would be able to complete the order.
Finally they ASSURED that my shutters were only 8 weeks away. After waiting another 4 weeks......unbelievably they called AGAIN to check on the colour and to ask me to provide another colour match and clearly had again failed to start production on my order!!!!!
The number of hours that I have wasted dealing with a completely inept company are too many to count. The number of times I was interupted at work are too numerous to admit to. The stress that dealing with Accent Blinds has caused has been immense. I have completely renovated a whole house in the time that Accent Blinds have taken to do .... NOTHING.
PLEASE be warned. This company are unable to produce the goods that they promise, dealing with them will cause you tremendous stress, you will need to make 6 or 7 calls each time you need to speak to your rep as they don't return your calls, and after all that you probably won't have any goods to show for all the time, money and effort you have invested. My advice is to ABSOLUTELY look elsewhere for your plantation shutters and save yourself a nightmare experience.

Wow, it's a pity you've had a bad time... I have had only the best experience with the team at Alexandria.... full shutter installation for more than 6 properties and no hassles. The overall feedback here is indicating your experience is definitely an anomaly! I hope you have been able to resolve your problems.

@architectxx, unbelievably there were even issues in getting my deposit back after 5 months of them messing me around. It was a total nightmare....head office, who deal with all the orders were the real problem and honestly have no idea how to operate an efficient business. They should never have told me (nor charged me additional money) they could custom match, as they just were not able to .... even though it was a common Dulux colour.

I had a big house done with timber blinds, about 20 doors and windows. The sales person was quick to come out and quote us but they were about 6 weeks late on getting them delivered. Once installed (by a moron no less), within a day the pelmets started falling off and crashing to the ground, we noticed the sides of the pelmets were missing and the blinds were all at an angle when you pulled them up... so they looked crap.

Called them for a service call, left 20 messages (could have been more) and after 8 weeks of arguing they sent someone out. He basically told me thats how the blinds are and you are stuck with them. After another 6 weeks of calls they sent another team out who said they are faulty and would come back to fix them the following week. 3 weeks later and nothing. I called their service staff a number of times and was told they would call back (Spoke to Alex, Mia and now Sharon). They never did.

They have the worst service ever, once they have your money they dont care about you. I would NEVER reccomend getting them. You might save a few dollars to start with but i have spent hours on the phone to them and have had to take 3 days off work for them to come around. Spend more and get something quality.

I totally agree with you... they are really slack. They don't seem to care about your business at all. They dip out though... I had an approximately $30,000 job that I was organising at my work place in the city and I have given it to another company. Their loss. Oh and my mum also is getting new blinds and I have told her to go else where... I think the people that work their are all a bit odd, I really don't understand how they stay in business. I feel like telling everyone how crap they are... and usually I am pretty patient & tolerant... What customer service?

I ordered approx 30 blinds for my new house on the 15 Jan 2009. Around mid Feb rang to check my order to be told that the fabric I wanted had come in with a major fault and couldnt be used. I then was told I could have the total blockout blinds and there wouldnt be a delay. Will now its the 9th May and I'm still waiting. After ringing again I was told that my order had started production and I should receive them the middle of May. It's not good enough.

I recently used Accent Blinds for every room of my new apartment. I was very happy with the consultation. The blinds took 2 weeks longer than the quoted delivery time. One of the blind was the wrong color but was replaced a week later. Overall I was amazed at the price. Just over $3,000 for 5 rooms.

I had my blinds installed for a bit over a year now. They promised life time warranty. I rang up telling them my verticals are falling off, so they arranged for someone to come in and installed new ones. I don't know how they can get the measurements wrong since they have the original order. The first guy came and install my blinds had the wrong measurements so he apologised and said accent should contact us soon to install the correct blinds. I waited for over 3 weeks contacted them again and it took them a further 4 weeks to send someone out. Disappointingly the guy that was meant to come out and installed on the second appointment said it was too late so he'll come early in the morning. So again I waited and no one even called me to tell me that he's not coming. I then contacted accent again sent someone out, took them again more then 3 weeks. And again, the measurements was still wrong. I don't know what they're doing!!! The guy left saying accent should contact me within 2 weeks. 4-6 wks later i still haven't heard from them.

Staff at the shop are very friendly and helpfull. Unfortunately the same cannot be said about the call center staff and the guy who installed the blinds. It gave me the feeling of once the deposit was paid the experience just got worse and worse.

Approximate cost: $1000
