A faulty Apple charger led to difficulty charging my iPad.
The so-called "genius" desk (!) at Apple said: yes, charger port damaged, it cannot be repaired, you will need to buy a new iPad.

IPD said yes, charger port damaged, no problem, fixed charge, collect tomorrow.

No contest!
