The closer caravan park to the main street. Sites are well defined, gravel and cement rather than lawn, although there are some lawned areas around the park. We had an ensuite caravan site. A good-size ensuite, fairly old, but had been refurbished and was well maintained and clean. Managers were a very friendly couple, the gentleman, in a wheelchair, personally directed us to our site and explained the amenities etc. A very nice and appreciated extra touch of service.

Approximate cost: $30 powered site, $40 with ensuite.

A very modern, well laid out supermarket. Nice, wide aisles, plenty of stock on shelves, and a good variety of products. We used the Lennards Chicken counter that was inside the store. Also has a liquor store, but we did not visit this section. Friendly staff. Handy trading hours.

A good range of meals available. Service was very prompt, even with a large Friday night crowd when we were there. My wife had Chicken Antonio (Grilled chicken breast served on top of avocado and draped with prawn, calamari in a garlic cream sauce) at $27.80. I had Chicken Tahiti (Chicken breast fillet layered with bacon, pineapple and tasty cheese served on a bed of rice with sweet chilli cream sauce) for $24.80. Very generous serves, fresh ingredients and beautifully cooked. Choice of about 3 large, roomy areas indoors and 1 outdoor area to dine. Nice atmosphere, carpeted, courteous staff.

Approximate cost: $16 to $34

One of the locals told us about the club as a good place for a Chinese meal. A very generous sized serve of a choice of about 6 or 7 different dishes, or a combination plate if preferred. The meal was quite nice, served very promptly. The club is nice and spacious, comfortable, with a good bar at reasonable prices. Pokie machines at the other end of the building, well away from dining room, which suited us fine.

Approximate cost: $12

This park is handy to the town. We walked across the river to the main street, probably about 500 metres. Far enough from the main highway so that noise wasnt too bad. The sites were nice and flat, drive-thru (a lot of them anyway), well defined, with a nice tiled pad for each to step out of the caravan onto, and would be ideal for the annex if staying more than a night or two. Shower and toilet block was older, but clean and tidy. We found the TV reception a bit poor, could not get all channels, but this is a long way from the city, so cant complain too much.

Approximate cost: $33 per night (2 people) or $30 as Big 4 member.

This is a lovely grassed park on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River only one street back from the main street and just off the highway, so ideally located to the town centre. The managers Mark and Wendee were very friendly and helpful. Check-in was completed quickly. The sites were nice and flat, drive-thru and grassed. The amenities were very clean and well maintained. Even though the park is close to the highway, we did not find the noise of the semis throughout the night to be a problem. Rates were very reasonable as well.

Approximate cost: $28 per night for 2 people

This brand new Big W only opened at the start of June 2012. It is large and well-lit and has a great range of products at prices as good as Ive seen in the city. The staff were keen to help and friendly. Hopefully this will continue past the first month.

Approximate cost: $as good as city Big W's.

Very tasty products at reasonable prices. They have a nice range of pies and pasties and sweet pastries as well. You can buy a multipack of buns or cake at a very reasonable price compared to other bakeries.

I am afraid we wont be using this takeaway again. We decided to have lunch there while shopping in Castle Plaza. The food was dry and had obviously been in the bain-marie for too long. It really was not appealing, and the price wasnt great either.

Happy with their service while buying a new vehicle. Friendly and not too pushy, which was much appreciated. They did their best to meet our requirements, but we didnt feel pressured to make an immediate decision. After-sales service has also been good.
