This review is for Moods Cafe, Berwick VIC

First time having a meal at Moods.

We've gone past the cafe numerous times on walks around Berwick and the cafe has usually been quite crowded.

During the warmer times there were always people sitting outside having their meals and they looked like they were enjoying themselves.

So we decided to try them out.

The service was acceptable and the food served within a reasonable period of time.

The quality was satisfactory as expected and the quantity more than enough.

The price was typical Berwick prices - a little more than you'd expect to pay for the quality, but again, reasonable for the quantity.

Overall an ok experience and meal.

The views from the cafe were quite nice and in summer I would imagine that with the trees having all their leaves the scenery would be even better.

One item that surprised me was the furniture in the cafe. It reminded me of cheap, school cafeteria type tables and chairs. Not good folks.

I've found that while many cafes and restaurants offer a reasonable meal as far as quantity is concerned I wish that they would either increase the quality the food in the meal or reduce the quantity and the price.

The Skin Cancer Clinic at the Narre Warren Clinic is outstanding.

The service and quality of care was top notch and the people at the clinic were friendly and caring.

The clinic is easy to get to and there is lots of parking.

I strongly recommend this clinic.

Located just off High Street in Berwick with plenty of parking near the shop or in the Woolworth's parking lot across the street.

You can do your shopping and get a haircut on the same trip.

Appointments can be made (by the Internet too), but I've found that there is usally no need. Walk in and get your haircut right away.

Service is fast and the staff are friendly.

Prices seem to be a bit above average.

Quality of the haircuts seems to be quite variable. Some times the haircut is super and other the cut is average.

I've never had the same person cut my hair twice.

So for constant quality and to get the same type of every time, you'd need to get an appointment.

Another club restaurant/bistro and another disappointment.

Overall I can say that this was one of the worst experiences I have had in any dining establishment.

Again a long wait from the time the order was until it was delivered to the table. Twenty minutes is too long to prepare and serve a simple burger especially given that there were only three other tables filled and one had already been served.

The bread roll was cold, hard, and tasteless. The salad that came with burger was limp and the tomatoes in the salad were bad.

The burger was even worse and I was only able to eat part of it before giving up.

The Coke was flat and weak.

The chips were the only decent part of the meal - hot and crisp.

Finally, the price was too expensive and was overpriced not even considering how bad the meal was.

Never again.

Friday night dinner and the first time at this establishment. No reservations, but no problem we thought as the place was basically empty. Nope, only one table 'empty' and that one was by the door leading to the outside betting area. The outside door was a slow closer and we battled the cold and smoke from outside during our meal.

Supposedly all the other tables were 'reserved', however during the entire time we were there, they were never filled. The place was more than half empty.

We ordered and paid for the meal and it took 19 minutes from the time we paid until the appetizer came. The mains much after that. The appetizer was good and that was about the last thing that was right.

I ordered my meal with chips. Vegetables came instead. The quality was ok and the quantity respectable.

Time for desert. They had a 'desert' special. Another long wait after ordering and paying and I had to go ask where the desert was. The desert was supposed to be apple pie and ice cream. Well the pie was small, baked so much so that it was hard and there was no 'ice-cream', but whipped cream.

Although one bad experience doesn't knock out a place, I'll have to think about dining here again. The food taste was ok, but nothing above average.

Considering the price and the service: the meal was a big let down.

Pakenham Family Health has many very good, caring doctors that are interested in the patient and take time to treat you as a person.

The doctors are all highly qualified and the care is outstanding.

The hours that the practice is open are convenient and they are even open on Sundays now.

They bulk bill and you are generally seen on time or within a short waiting time of your scheduled appointment.

I highly recommend this practice and the doctors at Pakenham Family Health.

This review is for Blue Hills Berries, Silvan VIC

verified email - 02 Jan 2013

Blue Hills offers a 'u pick' fruit and berry experience where you can pick your own fruit and berries. The farm has two operations one on Parker Road and the other of Chapman Road depending on what you want.

The farm is located in Silvan which is short drive from the Eastern Suburbs and the drive there is quite pleasant along very scenic roads.

At the farm you can pick a variety of fruit and berries such as cherries, raspberries, blueberries, and other assorted products.

If you are lucky and the season is right you can pick a variety of fruit at one time.

The staff is friendly and helpful, but sometimes the staff is overwhelmed by the number of customers and there may be a short wait to pay and get to the picking area.

The fruit is of high quality and as it is freshly picked - perfect.

The pricing is a little complicated as there is an 'entrance' fee which applies to the type of fruit being picked.

We found that the blueberries offer the best bargain as the $15 'entrance fee' includes one kilogram of fruit which compared to supermarket fruit alone on price is a bargain. Quality is of course much higher than the supermarket products.

The farm also offers a sales shed on Parker Road which has fresh and frozen products. The cherries are very high quality, sweet, and juicy.

In my opinion a great place to spend time picking your own fruit.

This review is for Nan Yang Supermarket, Springvale VIC

verified email - 02 Jan 2013

Nan Yang Supermarket offers a wide range of Asian grocery items. Their rice is usually the cheapest of any of the Asian grocery stores and they have a good selection of types and brands.

One unusual thing at the store is that if you want to pay by credit card you have to pay at the register at the back of the store.

Service is basically non-existant so you have to know what you are looking for when you go there.

Located in Springvale on Springvale Road so you can visit many shops at one time.

This review is for Cafe Vanille, Pakenham VIC

verified email - 18 Dec 2012

Cafe Vanille is located on Main Street in Pakenham and easy to find. Parking is a bit of a problem on Main Street so it is better to use on of the car parks in the area.

The cafe appears to be very popular and many times there is a wait for a table.

The cafe offers a variety of items on the menu, but we've found that the all day breakfast menu is the best and offers a wide choice of items.

The best value on the menu is the "Deluxe Breakfast" and will fill you up. The quality of the items is quite high and they are cooked to perfection.

The cafe can become a bit crowded and noisy at times so if you are looking for a 'quiet', relaxed place to it, this isn't your kind of place.

Overall a good place to have a casual lunch or an 'all day breakfast' type of meal.

We will definitely be a repeat customer!
